In the contemporary world, the society has experienced some significant changes over the recent past. The institution of new forms of technology driven by an enhanced level of creativity and innovation have spurred the dawn of a new era. Even though this revolution has brought some positive changes to the world, the challenges facing the society still continue to increase. The rising rate of unemployment, poverty, political violence, and ecological disasters among others are just but some of the problems that today’s societies face. The question of whether individuals have a duty to act on a broader perspective comes to light when these aspects of humanity are explored. Since most of these challenges have been brought about by human activity, it is imperative for people to explore the issue through a different lens. Individuals are embedded in a broader societal context and as such, they have a moral obligation to act in accordance with their position so that they can bring a positive change to the world.
In every society, individuals have a very important role to play as far as humanity is concerned. Most of the problems that affect the community have been brought about by our own actions and as such, there is a need for people to think of ways they can solve these challenges. Many people have failed in their quest to bring a change to the world because they used the wrong approach to address these issues. There is a need for a person to change their mindset so that people can get to see the message of change from the person who is presenting it. In the society, individuals normally tend to ignore their purpose in the society because they believe their existence is independent of others ( Leon-Guerrero, 2014 ). They will, therefore, ignore what is happening around them as long as it does not affect their lives directly. What they fail to understand is that in the long run, they or their children will be affected in one way or another.

The transition of the society from its traditional form to a modern and more integrated system has led to the development of more complicated problems ( Eggers & Macmillan, 2013 ). People will, therefore, struggle to resist the changes whereas, in the real sense, all they are required to do is adopt a more comprehensive approach to the problems. They need to create alternative visions that will guide them to formulate practical approaches to bring societal change. It is very important for people to see a challenge as an opportunity to do something different and extraordinary. For instance, by looking at an issue such as political violence or poverty, individuals need to find means of getting involved and immersing themselves in change-based approaches so that they can work with the entire community to address the problem as one unit ( Thio & Taylor, 2012 ). This will help them to drive a transition that will create a more resilient society with healthy mindsets and a stronger sense of positivity.
In every society, individuals need to look at problems from a broader context so that they can develop effective solutions. This cannot, however, be achieved if individuals do not embrace a sense of common purpose and public spirit for the collective good. The implication of this statement is that even if a person has the best intentions for their community, their efforts will be futile if they do not involve the rest of the members. A positive change can only be achieved if everyone in the society gets to see things the way one sees it otherwise nothing else will work. This is the main reason why there have been many revolutionary leaders who have tried to solve societal attempts with no success because they did not embrace a common purpose ( Beeson, 2013 ). Individuals, therefore, need embrace a greater sense of responsibility by focusing on a united purpose based on a collective set of goals.
The information provided above brings us to the conclusion that there is no balance between what an individual is responsible for and what their role should be in the public sphere. There is a need for people to understand that limitations do exist on how individuals can execute their personal pursuits in creating a better tomorrow. Individuals may have the drive to solve some societal problems but their position and status in the society will determine how they will be able to achieve their goals. The availability of resources to fund some initiatives also influences the success of these efforts and in most cases, those who wish to address the problems mentioned above normally lack this aspect. They, therefore, have to seek financial assistance from these individuals because financial support is necessary for such endeavors. This leaves one to conclude that there is no balance whatsoever between the purpose and the limiting factors that are in play within every community. The arguments provided above show that individuals need to nurture positive mindsets and take charge of the situations in the community so that they can develop progressive methods of dealing with today’s challenges.
