Interview Questions and Interview Answers
What encouraged you to take up social work as a career?
Having been brought up in a neighborhood where I would see some children being mistreated, I always wanted to help them out. However, at the time, I had neither powers nor the skills to assist these maltreated children. I heard of the various challenges they faced, as most of them were my close friends. Growing up, I promised to ensure that I would help children and improve their situations, which included protecting them from unhealthy and abusive households. As a social worker, I can guarantee that children find the right defection in life and also strive to advocate, motivate, and empower this future generation.
What are the various strengths and weaknesses related to the social work career?
One of my greatest strengths is my communication skills. These skills allow me to build a rapport with the children and ensuring they have complete trust in me. In conflicting situations, I can remain calm. I am also responsible, and this ensures that I make sure I am accountable for all my actions. However, my main weakness is that I am candid, and this affects my ability to lie. However, I am trying to improve on this weakness. Moreover, I am always overconfident, and this, at times, leaves me frustrated in case my goals are not attained.
How are you able to balance our personal and work life?
I have a perfect organized timetable that ensures I can balance my home and work. I have employed a housemaid who takes care of most of my home issues, and in case my job demands are too high, I can still manage my affairs. This indicates that I will be able to give this job a 100% commitment.
In your experience as a social worker, what types of children are the most difficult to deal with? How will you take of such children in our organization?
Most of the children who have various psychological disorders are hard to deal with at times. However, I have never given up, motivating them as I always put myself in their shoes and understand their situations. I will always try to look for the best method that works for them and ensure they are well taken care of.
What are the various signs that indicate a child has undergone some form of abuse at home, in school, or community setting?
The most common sign is mood changes. You can notice a child who once happy, has suddenly become gloomy. Other possible symptoms of abuse include social withdrawal and depression. You can also view physical signs such as scars, cuts, and bruises on their body.
