Volunteering gives one time to assist somebody else or a cause he/she minds because they want to sever without expecting payment. Volunteering can be individually rewarding and aids one to ‘give something back’ to the society. Food contribution programs are one of the finest ways to eradicate food waste (Gentleman, 2012). Food is fed to the hungry instead of letting it go to waste. It has been a remarkable experience for me to volunteer at the food bank.
Volunteering at a local food bank is one way I hose assist those in my area, who are in need of food. I learned that research proves that sharing your time with others for a good cause can advance your general cheerfulness and mental well-being. Volunteering at the food bank made me happier and made me feel powerfully in relation to my emotional wellbeing. Volunteering enabled me to learn new skills; make new friends, improved to the outlook for career progression and enhanced my mental health.

Different Food Banks run their activities in different ways. Depending on the day, there may be a collection of tasks taking place. If there is a team division of labor is necessary. The team appreciated my presence since I suggested and facilitated the creation and allocation of tasks. Division of labor has pros and cons (Durkheim, 2014). In our case, we largely benefit for sharing tasks. Dividing task and allocating them streamlined the storage tasks, packing up crates of food, and ensuring that there was a lot of healthy food products. On other days there will be a release of food from Fare Share, who get excess food from supermarkets and catering firms and redistribute it to various charitable organizations.
Working at a Food Bank in Charlotte, NC as a volunteer gave me the opportunity to explore my ability to help those in need, the ability to organize other and the ability to oversee effective service delivery. It gave me an opportunity to grow emotionally
