This paper discusses the priorities and the measures that can put in place by learning institutions to deal with various crises which are prone to occur in the learning environment. The paper gives an insight into several situations which might happen at learning institutions and further indicates how students, teachers, administrators and the school community are prepared to handle such emergencies. In the video provided for review, several measures are put in effect by the school authorities in response to the eminent threats and are further implanted with regards to crisis management plan. For instance, during the bomb situation, the well-trained school coordinator was conversant on how to inform students about the code blue situation before the decision for students to vacate the school premises was reached. The team in charge of responding to crisis acted effectively to prevent panic as a result of the emergency. During the bomb threat, the head of the institution quickly conducted a brief meeting to inform his staff of the emergency and promptly planned on the steps of responding to the crisis. Additionally, during the incident involving the students’ fight, the teacher present informed other custodians who intervened and separated the students before summoning them to the disciplinary department. The school counselors play a significant role in enhancing student recovery after a crisis. The school counselor is advisedtake part in reassuring students of their safety by informing them about the need to accept the challenge of bad things happening and the importance of moving on (Liou, 2015). The counselor will enhance this process byreaffirming as well as rebuilding attachments and the relationships between the students. When the crises occur in the learning institutions as observed from the presented video, the intervention skills and strategies are applied depending on the evidence available (Cornell, 2015). For instance, if I were in the position to intervene on the fighting students, both the students would be given a brief suspension from the school due to their confirmation of participating in physical misconduct after being inspected. Thereafter, I would counsel them and teach them the importance of tolerance and coexistence. In conclusion, there is nothing more important than the safety of students in their learning institutions. Therefore, the implementation of the crisis management plans should be a significant objective for the learning institutions.
