I define leadership as the privilege of leading people with common interests towards accomplishing shared targets and objectives. I term leadership as a privilege since, in most cases, some followers are more qualified and experienced in the field than the appointed leader. In leadership, I consider the followers as the most important factor since they determine the success or failure of the leader and the team. The followers legitimize the leader by upholding and supporting the chosen leaders and their leadership styles. Essentially, I believe that a leader is a representative of the followers in top management.

Besides, I consider leadership as the heart of all growth and development in organizations or institutions. Leaders are dream bearers, and they organize the followers to harness all the available potential to accomplish the dream. I uphold the saying that an organization or institution cannot perform beyond the leaders' ambitions and dreams. Leadership success is determined by leaders' ability to integrate the followers and form a team with the same drive and motivation for success. The followers only implement what the leaders strategize, and thus, the leaders' visions about the future and the skill to formulate feasible plans determine the overall performance.

I am a staff sergeant in the air force and a non-commission officer in charge of the pharmacy. These leadership positions are vital to the preparedness of the air force, and therefore, they demand the most effective leadership style. As a visionary leader, I have adopted a transformational leadership style that is centered on the followers. I chose transformational leadership since I am a firm believer in change and development. My leadership is ground on three change pillars: positive corrections, optimizing potential, and the desire to be the best. As a transformative leader, I use influence to capture the followers' attention and model the changes I intend to all the involved parties. Being a role model is a valuable aspect of transformational leadership as so, I have developed the physical, emotional, and psychological resilience necessary for all institutional changes.

Opposition and unwillingness to corporate are common issues in change processes due to laxity and fear of the unknown. To counter the obstacles to my transformational leadership, the transformational processes are designed and implemented by the followers. Involving the followers in the change processes enhances acceptance and morale since the followers better understand the need for changes. Also, since changes in the military are high-risk processes, involving all participants minimizes mistakes and loss of time and resources. Also, transformational leadership includes followers' contributions, and hence, the process is consultative, strengthening the bonds in the teams.

As a leader, I am very empathetic and concerned about my followers' well-being. My traits were significantly shaped by my experiences and exposure to extreme situations from my childhood. I was born and raised in the Philippines, where I experienced security, financial, and physical struggles due to the country's instability. Growing up, I desired to create an environment where all people would feel valued and appreciated to avoid recurrence of the unsettling experiences. Working with soldiers in the air force and the military pharmacy has exposed me to the struggles that people experience and the social void that worsens the situations. Therefore, creating an environment where the soldiers manage themselves instead of having laws made for them has made my job more satisfying. Helping other soldiers achieve their dreams and recover from physical pains, emotional and psychological disorders has made me more humanitarian. Currently, I am more focused on protecting my followers and improving our efficiency in securing the country and the people.
