When I was in high school, I used the internet for doing tiny things such as connecting with friends and making new friend’s n social Media. I also used the internet for sending emails to friends I met on social media. However, high school students nowadays have changed everything and are using everything on the internet such as video chatting, and they post their minute to minute activities. The social media also changed drastically, and now people can join groups that they feel they want to associate with, they join these groups and shares things that are common with the people that are there in the groups. I used devices such as the phone and computer during my high school era, but the student nowadays uses tablets the latest model iPhones, and laptops.

According to Boyd, he refers to social media as the sites that emerged during the era of the 2000s that includes but not limited to social network sites, video sharing sites and blogging. Boyd supports and encourages the internet with a notion that it supports interaction and encourages the young generation in participating in relevant online communities. Unlike Boyd Sherry purport that social media can create anxiety. She gives an example of a person who can create an ideal profile of a person such as impersonating them to gauge whether the person is liked by people. Sherry puts it that the new connectivity creates anxiety. When a person is glued to the internet, they might come out thinking they wasted a lot of time. The same person might say they missed out a lot if they are not connected to the internet.
