An organizational strategy is the set of actions an organization or company wants to take in order to attain intended company goals and objectives. Several strategies combined form a strategic plan. The organizational strategy is formed by top management then it is adopted and fulfilled by lower management and staff. An Information System is a combination of hardware and software and complementary networks built to create, collect and distribute data. The integration between hardware and software and the telecommunication networking involved forms an Information system. Information systems are particularly used in organizations.
Management can use the laid down Information systems to monitor employee computer activities. This from a management point of view, is quite necessary and desirable. In the sections below the reasons supporting the above argument will be stated. Additionally, the changes in the design of the physical work-place as a result of growth in the telecommunication and mobile Industry will be discussed.

Monitoring Employees’ Computer Activities
As seen from the definition of Information Systems, it is plain to see they are used to create, collect and distribute data within the organization. The Information System therefore can be said to be the backbone of an organization. Managers should be able to monitor employees’ activities within the system to facilitate efficient collection and distribution of the data (Bourgeois, n.d).
Besides the intricate hardware, software and telecommunication network nature of Information systems, the people handling the system form a fourth piece of the technology. They include the front-line-help-desk personnel, system analysts and programmers. They are a very crucial component of the system since they directly interact with it. Managers thus need to keenly monitor their interaction (Bourgeois, n.d); preventing anomalies from occurring in the system as a result of the interaction.
Monitoring further protects the company from theft and harm from malicious software such as viruses (Richmond, 2012). Without monitoring, employees can make it common practice to download and install unauthorized programs from the internet. This practice presents a vulnerability that malicious software can use to attack the information system. Managers therefore need to monitor and thus set rules and policies that govern employee interaction with the Information Systems.
Change In the Work-place Over Time
Without a doubt the design and state of contemporary offices together with the roles employees play in the offices will change drastically in the near future. This is a result of the growth in the telecommunication industry and other mobile work arrangements. This transformation can be summed up by one word, digital transformation. It entails modification and reinvention of all aspects of an organization: the supply chain, work flow, employee skill set needed, customer interaction and the physical design of the offices. The whole aim of digital transformation is to enable a company to remain competitive in an economy (Rouse, 2017).
Some of the mobile technologies pioneering digital transformation include: artificial intelligence, cloud computing and IoT (Internet of Things).
Cloud computing for example, provides mass data storage structures to an organization. This reduces the need for offices to have large rooms for organization data storage (Rouse, 2017). This can serve to reduce the physical size of the offices or the extra space can be used to expand the company business.
Growth in the mobile platforms has allowed for work to happen from remote places (Rouse, 2017). This means that employees do not need to be within an office to be take part in the organization transactions. Through the Internet of Things, access can be mobile. For example, employees can access the company network, from mobile devices such as phones, tablets and personal computers that can communicate with each other and the organization network. This further reduces the size of offices; they will become smaller and smaller to only accommodate staff that really need to be present in the office.
In conclusion, it is important that managers monitor employees’ activities as they interact with the Information Systems put in place. This improves efficiency in accomplishing the Organization Strategy. However, monitoring can be effective if it used ethically. On the other hand, the outlook of contemporary offices is bound to change as mobile platforms grow and new technologies are incorporated in the Organization Strategy. The offices are bound to become smaller or less crowded.
