The wide range of data relative to diseases, analysis, treatment, and results in healthcare demands knowledge exchange among healthcare professionals. Knowledge exchange improves healthcare services and impacts decision making. Knowledge is a critical asset, which requires proper management by setting practices, and principles to enable healthcare professionals to create and apply it to improve their effectiveness. Other avenues that healthcare professionals share knowledge include demonstration, lecturing discussion, and the internet. Knowledge exchange keeps professionals updated with health information and implements the knowledge obtained in their practice. However, the status barrier is a controversial factor that limits knowledge exchange within the healthcare system.

Behavior and attitude play a critical role in knowledge exchange as they depend on human tendencies and choices. Individual perception of professionals within the healthcare system also affects knowledge sharing and exchange (Gider et al., 2015). Other factors include personality traits, conflicts of interests, motivations, and awareness. To achieve knowledge exchange while considering these factors, inform health professionals on its importance to keep them aware as well as motivate them to share knowledge.

Embracing technology in healthcare will also encourage knowledge exchange and sharing. User-friendly applications and other well-designed technologies reduce completion time and simplify tasks. They influence professionals to engage in electronic information exchange to share knowledge. Sophisticated technologies that enhance knowledge exchange process include backup databases, groupware workflow technology, and knowledge management systems (Hamouda et al., 2015). Knowledge sharing improves the precision of care quality and diagnosis as it involves using knowledge tested in a previous task to undertake a similar present task. Knowledge exchange also improves collaboration among professionals, which helps overcome status barrier and enhance the quality of action and care.
