Contemporary innovations and developments, especially in robotics world make robots, intelligent enough, cost effective and user-friendly. Consequently, robots have vast influence in every field. The boon of robots increases their flexibility of being able to perform various tasks. The primary reason for this research is to discover the use of robots in a barbershop. The purpose of this particular robot is to cut and die hair of customers in barbershops. Hence, there is need to have the invention of this robot and also a name coined for it, to distinguish it from already established robots. The perfect name would be Cut and Dye

The benefits a robot rendered to its field of specialization are myriads. In this case, Cut and Dye is of no exception. This robot design will allow it to be flexible for it to perform the cut and dye task easily. Cut and Dye will be more accurate and consistent compared to the barbers. This is because the robot programmed feature is in a way that knows exactly how, when, what and on who they have to perform these functions. This will with no doubt not only increase the profits made but also the production of these services as well as they can rapidly complete tasks. Another privilege barbers will enjoy due to purchasing Cut and Dye , is that it will be able to withstand work pressure. For instance, in case it is required to perform its tasks round the clock it can manage as it does not need rests, sick days or even vacations.

Cut and Dye will make fewer errors, hence saving barbershops time and allowing same tasks to be complete within a short period. Another feature of the robot is that it will eliminate the monotony of doing repetitive tasks, compared to humans who either get exhausted or bored. This is because of their ability to be customized (Benefits of Using Robotics, 2018). The use of the robot will make barbers see how it outweighs the traditional barbershops, as it will notably diminish time and money costs even on the customers’ side. This will allow a great increase in the revenue.

People’s heads have different shapes and hair grows in distinct directions. A barber who is qualified personnel to shave a people’s hair must not become extinct, but using Cut and Dye some tasks could be redefined. For this case, the task of cutting and dying a customer’s hair is automatically customized for the robot to perform. Cut and Dye will be programmed in a way that can help it determine the shape of the head and the length of the hair it’s supposed to cut or dye. Using a computer model, photographs of faces with different haircut styles will be input such that they can be previewed and adjusted at any given time. The same cutting equipment that is used is similar to the ones barbers use while cutting hair. This is because there is a holistic art form which regards haircuts. The demand for low-cost, high-quality haircuts prompts the need for this humanoid robot.

The target population for this innovation will be focused only on the male customers. This is because several aspects of hair cannot be observed by just looking at it. For example its roughness, dryness or how it reacts to various products. Most women believe that their choice of hairdresser is intimate and personal. The social aspect of being able to talk to their hairdresser they consider priceless. Besides not so many of them are willing to let just anyone touch their hair. On the other hand, men are more likely to embrace the idea and be all over Cut and Dye.

The UX strategy is the process which innovators of a particular development need prior to the launch and design of this digital product. This becomes the solution to the progress that needs innovation. A UX strategist should think of all possibilities related to the product and describes it after getting to its potential customers. These strategists need to be open-minded, clear, informed and rational. This strategy involves the use of real efficacious customers to validate and prove the need for the product release to the market ( UX Strategy, 2018) . Customers need to experience the value of the new product to be convinced to leave behind the old. This high-level strategy requires the use of practical and cost-effective techniques which seek to create a game plan which weighs the strengths of using Cut and Dye . The UX strategy should allow the team to note the barriers to entry, which can thwart customers from converting to customers.

In this digital world, people who are passionate about technology are very significant as they need to excavate original information about the product they want to invent during the discovery phase. Cut and Dye project is of no exception. Cut and Dye has two arms provided to increase the ease, flexibility and freedom for a human remote to operate the hair cutting tools and dying implements. Hence, a survey was conducted by the team to establish the possibility of men accepting the robot. The owner of barbershop B was supportive of allowing this survey to be done in his workplace. Potential customers were randomly picked and requested to fill in information regarding the research. Survey questionnaires were given to those customers that were willing to help with the study.

The following were the questions set up to help collect information regarding the introduction of Cut and Dye into the market:

What is your age?

What is the most critical factor when choosing a barbershop?

What services do you expect a barbershop to have and please specify

How often do you get your haircut?

Where do you prefer getting your hair?

If you cut your hair at home state the reason why you do so and how much it costs approximately?

If a barbershop was to succeed in hair and dye what is the maximum you would be willing to pay for the services?

Would you agree to let a robot either cut or dye your hair? If YES/NO state the reason for your answer.

These questions deliberately focused on knowing the likelihood of men choosing to use the robot in exchange of having the barber doing the haircut or dye. Also, the seeks to explain the cost payable by the clients for the services the robot renders. Finally, the potential of the clients to willingly let Cut and Dye do their hair determines the success of this project. The purpose of this survey is to be able to comprehend what’s out there, examine the opportunities, implement small-structured experiments, and iterate until these men are convinced to let the robot either cut or dye their hair.

Letting a robot show its ability to do one’s haircut is not a new phenomenon. There has been a demonstration of a man who let a robot do his hair (Barber, 2012). Cut and dye will further enhance the quality of service necessary for the growth of haircut and dye services. Using data and information collected via the survey, interviews and general observations the effectiveness and efficiency of Cut and Dye should be established. Validated customer research is one of the most critical aspects of this project. As collaboration aids to build consensual cost value, the sufficiency of the product and need for the product.

Risk-taking and innovation are also required to let this project be autonomous. The bottom line is, targeting potential customers should not be compromised as them wanting to build on Cut and Dye truncates as a prototype idea to a strong core for establishing its development. Cut and Dye aims at being valuable to the customers to entice them to use it. The marketing of Cut and Dye will also be via online platforms that will ensure information about the robot reaches the maximum number of potential customers. This will eliminate the uncertainties of developing an ideology using limited data.

Inconclusion, contemporary innovations and developments in robotics world make robots, intelligent sufficient, cost effective and user-friendly. The use of robots increases their flexibility of being able to perform various tasks. The fundamental reason for this research is to discover the use of robots in a barbershop. The aim of this robot is to cut and die hair of customers in barbershops. The benefits a robot rendered to its field of specialization are myriads.
