Interprofessional is a group of persons from various fields working together where each of the members gives their knowledge, skills, and attitudes to support or oppose the contribution by other members. In a healthcare facility, various profe3ssionals come together and work as a team to make the processes and experiences in the facility an excellent one. In the healthcare facility, there is a manager who can be a senior doctor in the facility who ensures that all the operations are running as expected. In this case, the discussion is meant to assess a meeting in a healthcare facility regarding a burning issue in the work practices and how they can be addressed.
In the meeting, all the personnel involved in making the healthcare facility lively should be present. These include the licensed nursing practitioner, unlicensed assistive personnel, the medical residents and the physical therapist. According to the case, all these persons were on duty at the time the nursing practitioner seemed to be out of order. These persons need to be present in the meeting so they can be reminded of the work of the nursing practitioner. A senior doctor should be the one to lead the meeting as he or she will be in the best position give orders during the meeting and preside over all the members who in this case will be below his rank in the facility. The senior doctor will have the capacity to give each other responsibilities and instruct them not to cross boundaries or be reluctant in their provision of care ( Weiss, Tilin, & Morgan, 2017 ).
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
As a team leader, there are some of the tasks that can be delegated to the unlicensed assistive personnel. These tasks include contacting the social worker and the patient coordinators to begin discharge planning on other patients. The two tasks can be delegated as they do not need any professional expertise but only passing around a message to the social worker and the patient coordinator. Another task that can be delegated is the administration of pain medication. The pain medication can be delegated as it is not a complicated job and the UAP will be following the orders as given by the therapist.
The agenda of the meeting will include items such as;
Communication
Teamwork
Commitment to patient safety
In the context of a discussion, specific rules need to be put in place for the team to follow to become effective. One of the rules is that the communication process should be made through the most effective channel to be sure that it reaches the target audience. Another rule is that the message passed across should have feedback to assure the sender that the message has been received and that it has reached the designated recipient. If no feedback is received, the sender should contact the recipient to confirm if the message was received or not ( Reeves, Lewin, Espin & Zwarenstein, 2010 ).
To improve the workloads demand and the patient care, the members can be taken through a training and development program that will educate the members on how to work effectively as a team, enhance the relationship among the members and improve their communication and coordination. The training and development will entail elements that will enhance the teamwork and promote a work environment where there are coordination and commitment to quality patient care.
