PURPOSE OF STUDY Investigate the rate of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among college student. STDs are contracted among individuals that have unprotected sex with partners that are already infected with the disease or virus. This study aims at evaluating the rate at which college students are likely to contract STDs and the risks they are exposed to in relation to STDs. Through this research we will be able to learn the prevalent nature of STDs among college students and how they protect themselves. Your participation in this research project will assist us in gathering sufficient information and data related to the subject. STUDY PROCEDURES This research will include a group discussion and one-on-one interviews. You will be part of a group of six college student; 3 males and 3 females whereby you will be required to discuss a set of questions related to the subject for 1hour 30 minutes. A researcher will be observing the group discussion and audio recording the conversation. Afterwards each participant will attend a private one-on-one interview for 45 minutes with a research. The interview discussion will be audio recorded for reference purposes. RISKS You will be asked to share some personal and confidential information, which may make you feel uncomfortable when talking about some of the topics. You are not under any obligation to answer any questions or take part in the discussion or interview if you do not wish to. You do not have to provide any explanations justifying your responses or refusing to participate in the research process. BENEFITS There will be no direct benefits to you for your contribution to this research. However, we hope that you will be able to learn from the lessons shared in the research process. Your responses to the discussion questions and interview will be anonymous. You are advised not to share any identifying information on your written responses. The researchers are committed to protecting your personal data and information to maintain confidentiality, the following measures will be taken:

VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION Your participation in this study is voluntary. You are free to decide whether you want to be part of the research. If you decide to be part of the research, you will be requested to sign a consent form. Even after you have signed the consent form you are free to leave at any time without giving reason. Withdrawing from this research will not affect your relationship with the researchers. However, if you withdraw from the research after the data has been compiled, your data will be destroyed or returned to you.
