Considering fitting in the IOM future of nursing recommendations, I believe that I would very well fit in the healthcare industry in the coming years. For instance, the 4th IOM recommendation aims at increasing the proportion of nurses with a baccalaureate degree to 80% by the year 2020. This IOM recommendation aims at having highly educated individuals within the numerous health institutions spread out across the nation thus improving the health of the nation. Then there is the 5th recommendation which aims at doubling the number of nurses with a doctorate by 2020. Doubling the numbers of nurses who have doctorates would help in ensuring high-quality health services thus ensuring the success of a healthy nation agenda. Finally, there is the 6th recommendation which aims at ensuring that nurses engage in lifelong learning. Engaging in lifelong learning would prove very significant in promoting continuous growth. I see myself fitting with these recommendations and be among the team which will help in delivering a healthy nation.
When it comes to increasing the proportion of nurses with a baccalaureate degree to 80% by 2020, I am certain that I will fit in well. At the moment am pursuing my bachelor’s degree and in the nearby future, I will be through. Successfully completing my bachelor’s degree and graduating from the university will mean that am qualified to be among the 80% come the year 2020. Completing this course would mean that I am equipped with the needed knowledge to utilize in nursing before and even after the target date.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
The 5th recommendation aims at doubling the number of nurses with a doctorate by 2020. Considering the fact that am finishing my bachelors in 3 months’ time, I have an opportunity to continue with my studies and get to the level of a doctorate. After my degree, I would be going for a master after which I would pursue the highest level of higher education which is the doctorate. With this level of education, I would be able to qualify and be among the double group. Despite the fact that the target date would arrive before I complete my doctorate I would still be able to be on the table.
Then there is the 6th recommendation which aims at ensuring that nurses engage in lifelong learning. Having a single degree or higher education document is not enough and therefore not helpful and thus a block to achieving a healthy nation. Providing nurses with the opportunity to continuously engage in learning would help in archiving the most appropriate and needed knowledge to cover, support and boost their entire career (Altman et al., 2016). Providing an opportunity for the nurses to continue furthering their career would help in making them become more competent since they would be able to provide high-quality care. This recommendation would not live me out since it would help in completing my doctorate in addition to providing additional studies about my career.
Increasing my level of education would be very significant since it would help me be more competent in my career. In addition, increasing my level of education would help in boosting and improving my skills as well as understand more about nursing thus making me highly equipped for my career success. Increasing my education level would help in successfully managing my role in nursing thus maintaining and grow on my position throughout my career.
