Any business will always strive to reap maximum profits despite the costs of production; they will employ all means to ensure that the profit margin is high. Taking a look at companies that have outsourced its production so as to reduce the costs of production and maximize profits, we find that these companies do not take into consideration the factors behind the production level. I feel that some companies have infringed the rights of workers and have subjected the workers at the production level to very unconducive work environment. The case we receive from China companies is a clear indication that workers are subjected to environments that are not good at all. They are forced to work more than they are supposed to. The fact that people need employment does not mean that the employers should subject them to harsh environment and working conditions. Therefore the larger profit should not be associated with the stress caused to workers (Aidoo, 2017).
“ Does the amount of suicides not alarm you and make you rethink your production?”
It is indeed sorrowful to hear of the many suicides taking place from many production sites in China. Employees are subjected to depression because they need to work so as to earn, this will make them think of suicide because they feel like prisoners or rather slaves. This should alarm those companies that outsource their production to China and other countries. The only thing that a customer seeks I satisfaction from the products they purchase and consume, therefore the whole story of production and suicide does not affect them. The number of suicide committed by workers at the production zones continue to increase with the increase in the number of companies that have outsourced their production. It is important for companies to rethink f revising the work environment at the production level which is ethical, unlike the case where they assume the alarming rates of suicide. From the case studies on the Chinese sweat shops, we are exposed to the dangerous work environment that subjects an individual to suicidal thoughts (Nicolas et, al, 2016).
