John Blancher is the owner of an extremely popular business known as Rock N Bowl. The business model of the company follows a combination of drinking, bowling, eating, music, and dancing. John led the business from bankruptcy and failure to the point of national recognition. John’s mindset played a huge role in the success of his business; he had a positive mentality that always sought for new opportunities and had faith that he would succeed. His positive mindset was as a result of his strong reliance on spiritual faith. John was motivated to get more income his positive mindset enabled him to see several opportunities where he could achieve success. He had a great belief in his personal strengths such as self-reliance, extroversion, and competitiveness. John was able to build on his strengths and added positivity and faith that inspired him to use his perspiration to get more money. He remained positive even in the times of despair. His faith made him believe that things would turn up and become perfectly well (Baron, 2006).

John compares with other entrepreneurs in his vision and ability to see opportunity everywhere. He can be compared closely with Jeff Bezos who tapped into the new world of electronic retailing in 1994. He tapped into the virtual bookstore and is today a perfect model for e-commerce businesses. John Blancher and Jeff Bezos are innovators that see a new opportunity or are on the lookout for a new idea or to improve and develop an existing service or product. At one point in their lives, they saw that something could be better. Instead of just saying and wishing, they decided to put a plan in motion. John had the ability to see the future of the business before it even happened. He considered how successful the business was in his childhood days. He saw that the same results could be replicated for the current business.

John made several actions that helped to propel his business to success. The first action was that of recognizing opportunity when other people could not. He had seen an opportunity in Mid-city lanes when other people could not see the business as being viable. At some point, all his family members and friends thought that he was crazy. Even though the business was deteriorating and the equipment was outdated, he had a vision for the business and could see it grow to become a huge success. After recognizing opportunity, the next action that propelled John to success was his purpose and ambition to make the business succeed. He mortgaged his house in order to install a kitchen (Brockmann et al., 2014). This displayed a strong attribute of entrepreneurs where they have faith and are ambitious enough to make the business succeed. His ambition saw him focus on getting more customers to the business. John solved the problems in the business step by step. He started with furnishing the business, building a strong customer experience, getting more customers, and gaining national recognition for the business.

Several factors led to the success of the Rock N Bowl business. One factor was that of the location of New Orleans. Unlike other geographical areas, the people of New Orleans had holidays that were longer. Instead of having four to six weeks of party seasons, the demand for parties in the region was twice as long. The length of the parties brought huge revenue to the business. John had a personal attention to each customer that improved the entire experience of the business. The parties became the main source of the business. Another critical factor that led to the success of the business was its sustainable slow growth. From the moment of the purchase of the business, John kept his costs and expenditure for the business low. He did not use expensive marketing opportunities but relied on word of mouth. At this time the business was operating mainly on bowling. After some time, John saw another opportunity and slowly grew the business to become an entertainment platform. He offered music on Friday nights, and word spread that John’s place would be the place for celebrities and movie stars. Such a word of mouth advertisement propelled the business to huge levels of success.
