Kendall regional medical center is a health organization that is committed to the care and improvement of human life. As such, it offers a wide range of services that include a Doral emergency room, emergency care, and a comprehensive stroke center. The facility also provides; behavioral health, heart, and vascular care, maternity care, orthopedic, pediatric care, radiology services, rehabilitation, trauma care, women health, and minimum invasive surgery. Given the large variety of services, decision making at the facility is complex (Kendall Regional Medical Center, 2020) . However, Kendall Regional is no different from other medical facilities. Thus its decision-making process involves the consideration of the patients' experience and the view of the management. As found by Kaplan and Frosch (2005), the decision-making process results in the procedural decision made by the medical practitioners and the patient. Also, the management, staff, and the patient make procedural, policy, and monetary decisions.
Patient experience is at the center of Kendall Regional medical center. Thus, the nurses, supervisors, first-line managers, hospital management, and HCA healthcare make procedural decision making that enhance the patients’ experience. The nurses, supervisors, and first-line managers frequently interact with the patients. Therefore, they engage in the active collection of information that can facilitate the implementation of a decision that is vital in enhancing the patient experience. Also, the nurses and their respective supervisors are responsible for making decisions that affect individual patient’s cases. The individual cases fall in the broader framework of the Kendall Regional medical centers framework of a commitment to care and improvement of human life. The first-line managers, on the other hand, focus on their larger area of administration. As such, they collect information from the nurses and supervisors, make their evaluation, and present it to upper management. They are also responsible for making decisions that affect their areas of work in consultation with the supervisors they manage.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
The upper management of Kendall Regional medical center and the HCA healthcare is responsible for making decisions that affect the whole organization. Most of the top management decision affects policy, operation, and financial decision. As found by Doering (2020), an example of upper management financial decisions include the expansion of the medical facility by building a new parking garage, 77 private rooms, trauma/ ICU floor, and women/children floors .
As a nurse at Kendall regional health center, I can be invited to the table to actively participate in decision making in three ways. First, by being personally responsible for my assigned duties, then actively engage in the collection and presentation of information that can help the facility enhance its commitment to care and, finally, improve human life, and to join committees (Shirey et al., 2012) . The first step of gaining active participation in decision making is by being responsible for my assigned duties. The ability to demonstrate responsibility is likely to earn me an invitation to a decision-making table when the top management is discussing a matter that directly affects my work station. Secondly, I will engage in the active collection and reporting information to the administration that is likely to enhance the hospital's mission. The review of presented opinions and information is expected to earn me a seat at the decision-making table.
The invitation to the table by working on the identified work station or proposer of the idea is also likely to earn me a place in the constituted committee. For instance, Kindall regional Medical center has various oversight committees such as the research oversight committee (Kendall Regional Medical Center, 2020) . The committee level membership requires active engagement in the discussion that enhances my decision making for the whole organization.
In conclusion, decisions making at Kindall Regional Medical Centre takes place at various stages that start at the nurse, supervisors, first-level manager, and upper management. The nurse, supervisors, and first-level managers engage in procedural decisions that affect specific areas of work. The top management that includes HCA healthcare makes decisions that affect the whole organization. They are mainly policy, operation, and financial decisions. Nonetheless, as a nurse, I can earn an active sit at the decisions making table in three ways. By being responsible for my assigned duties, actively collecting and reporting ideas to support the mission, and joining committees that discuss the ideas I raised or affect my pace of workplace.
