Simply being given the leadership position does not make an individual an effective leader. With hard work and humility, every person can learn how to lead in an effective manner. However, developing the best leadership set requires individuals to first understand their strengths and weaknesses using the Leadership Motivation Assessment tool.
Personal score
From the analysis, my score is 45 meaning that I am doing well as a leader, but there is a potential of performing better. Even though I have built a foundation that ensures that there is effective leadership, there is an opportunity to improve the skills (Manktelow, 2006). The areas that I lost points, which can be considered to be my weakness include questions that relate to self-confidence. It can be improved by an understanding of the things that have already been achieved. Another area of weakness related to managing the performance of employees effectively by means of setting the expectations concisely and clearly. When every person knows the expectations from the company, then it is easier to gain high-performance levels. Often there is little uncertainty, meaning that people can deal with issues that are related to performance quickly. Effective performance can be achieved by understanding the rules that are available. It is also vital to ensure that employees are involved in the process of making rules and that the expectations of the company align with the support and resources available. However, there are also areas where I scored highly especially those that are related to being a good model by demonstrating the values and actions expected from employees and having the ability to motivate people to deliver the expectations. I plan to develop my skill set by learning in my course.
