In my understanding, leadership is the ability of one to effectively communicate goals while collaborating with the followers and inspiring them to meet their objectives. I have been able to develop vital skills in this Leadership and Organizational course. First, I have developed effective communication skills that are paramount to a successful leadership. A leader must emphasize on effective communication which is imperative in sharing ideas and passing vital information in the decision-making process. For example, I am able to share ideas with other people and incorporate their ideas and desires in my decision making which ensures that I always come up with an ethical decision.
I have gained critical skills on ways to motivate my subordinates using both monetary and non-monetary resources. It is true that motivation is the cornerstone of a successful teamwork as it helps reduce staff turnover, encourage sharing of ideas, increases productivity in a group and facilitate the growth of team members. Therefore, as a leader, I am able to use non-financial sources of motivation, for instance, the use of recognizing my team members for their efforts before other members as a way to encourage them to do even better. Finally, I have learned the importance of flexibility in leadership as a way to handle complex situations to win the trust of my subordinates even in a tricky and challenging circumstance. My flexibility has always enabled me to manage any rising negative working environment and create an accommodating team which I believe would distinct me from other leaders.

To continue growing my leadership and organizational behavior skills, I believe that there is the need to identify key areas of weakness and build on them. My first goal is to improve my self- awareness where I will first focus on the aspect of reflection with regards to my passion and ways that I express myself in them. I would focus on ranges of opportunities that are accessible to me and attend several seminars which would help to broaden my perspectives. My second goal is to improve my self-management by reviewing goal making guidelines and register in online-Programs and leadership institutes, which would help me to practice and use these skills.
