The management of teams remains one of the most fundamental aspects of team leadership. Some of the attributes that managers require include interpersonal and analytic skills. The interpersonal skills that every manager should work to leverage include emotional intelligence, trust-building, listening skills, and empathy. Managers must also work to ensure that they develop trust with their team members. Managers must also possess analytical skills which define their ability to break problems to better visualize their relationships. In a bid to develop a high-performing team, different strategies could be used effectively. The first strategy relies on maintaining strong and open communication lines to engage every stakeholder effectively. Another strategy revolves around the creation of a positive organizational culture supported by a strong work ethic, discipline, and ethical consideration. Thirdly, emphasis should be placed on empowerment through capacity building and motivation to improve individual team performance. As the leader of the team, I would embark on the empowerment of the team members. A highly charged workforce is more likely to yield the much-required outcomes. Through training, benchmarking, and capacity building, the team members, will be better poised to overcome barriers and provide quality.
