Professional competitors endanger themselves in indulging in deviant activities. After much time of working out, training and contemplating to win, some athletes turn to drugs. This is often a move of setting themselves on self-destruction. Letroy Guion is one player that blundered, and was captured by law enforcing agencies because of engaging in deviant behavior (McCabe, Modecki, & Barber, 2016). This current paper will discuss the deviant acts that Letroy Guion was involved in and elaborate how it could be avoided as well as steps to prevent further cases from happening.

Letroy Guion was seized recently; he recognized that his career was at stake. The police in Starke, Florida, which is Guion’s hometown, entered the Green Bay Packers unexpected (Khan, 2018). They found about three quarter pounds of marijuana and above 190,000 dollars cash money (McCabe, Modecki, & Barber, 2016). The police collected the money, pot and truck that was related to Guion who was there. In fact, Guion heard the police flush out his sports career easily.

The police reported that Guion was excessively aggressive and could not cooperate with them while his car was being searched. The office that arrested recorded that Guion repeatedly lamented that his money would not be taken. The player was so careless that the law enforcement agency noticed him weaving on the road (Khan, 2018). In fact, there was a smell of marijuana in his car, which reached the police. Guion crashed his career with the Packers where he was doing very well and being paid handsomely.

The deviant behavior that was eminent in Guion’s life was that of indulging in drugs and possessing a handgun, which could be used for threatening people inappropriately. After his release on a $100,000 bond, he went back to join the Packers and he had been a starter in all the games he played (McCabe, Modecki, & Barber, 2016). He was in the middle of negotiating a new deal with the Packers that the police again pulled him over. Guion’s has demonstrated a lot of troubles and serious matters in the playing field. Unfortunately, the Packers were cognizant of Guion’s troubles, but they did not bother much. Guion and Packers not do something about these was not only breaking criminal law, but also their actions precipitated fierce outbursts from their fans (Khan, 2018). The fans understood that Guion compromised the recognized norms that made professional sport teams accountable to the cities that support them.

As the one in charge of the team, I would adopt a universal drug-testing policy to set standards for participating in the games. The repercussions are not just on the individual but also the reputation of the team is destroyed. Even during the offseason, the players have to be tested. Fairness and integrity in the sport is very critical, therefore, I could have reinforced the same among all team members. Laws to curb deviant activities in the team is crucial, as it would be an effective restraining aspect for those that violate the rules (McCabe, Modecki, & Barber, 2016). Players who misbehave must be suspended or fined for others to learn. This would make many players to beware of indulging in activities that compromise the standards of sports.

In conclusion, much pressure should not be put in players so that they would want to do indulge in deviant activities to compete effectively. The coach or team leaders must foster good and acceptable behavior among his team members. The players must also be made aware of the consequences of engaging in behavior that compromises their conducts as sportsmen.
