Change is a ubiquitous component that is likely to occur consistently over certain durations of time within an organization. The change model chosen by an organization is dependent on the nature of activities being undertaken in the business, the change itself and also the people involved. Taking the example of Lewis change model in regards to Nordstrom Inc. there is a possibility that the model is bound to be applicable, however, at the same time, it is likely to experience resistance from some of the employees.

One area of change that is likely to improve business performance in the Company is the personalization of customers’ commodities. The Lewis change model is likely to be the most effective ways through which this can be achieved within the business. The reason why this is likely to promote the success of the business is due to the fact that modern clients are attaching a lot of significance on the experience they get when shopping for commodities compared to the product that they are seeking to purchase.

Lewis change model will likely involve three stages, unfreeze, change and refreeze. In the first stage, the business will have to identify the change that they feel will be suitable for the Company. For instance, they may choose to undertake a survey. Secondly, they will have to involve constant communication in a bid to dispel rumours. The third stage, on the other hand, will involve incorporating the changes into the organization.

It is apparent, nonetheless, that such changes will be met with some opposition from some members of staff. This is partly due to the fact that customization of client`s products is likely to be a gruelling and tiresome task for the employees. There is a possibility that some of them may end up being reluctant to work within the proposed changes. Also, a great majority of individuals may feel as if they portray inadequate skills and expertise in customization of products.

Finally, in order to gain the support of the workers, one of the important things that the Company has to do is to ensure that they remain well informed as the changes are being instituted. Also, the organization can initiate a reward system for the employees who will be viewed as having contributed greatly to the changes. Feedback systems should also be incorporated in order for the workers to be in a position to express their honest opinions on the proposed changes.
