At first, I thought that the main goal of a college is to increase the attainment of the college, that is, the number of credentials to be a lot. However, I later on came to realize that this was not the case because the main aim of ac college is to attain high quality degrees, certificates or the other credentials. For instance, in the job market the employers are not just demanding for the credentials but also for the highly developed knowledge and skills, mostly. Similarly, the democratic society as well as the global economy is mostly demanding for the learning those particular credentials signify (Ewell, 2013) . This course is very important because it is encouraging not to just study for the sake of attaining a certificate, but I should understand what am studying to get the skills and knowledge required.

Liberal arts education refers to all studies which are undertaken in a liberal arts program. Some time back, liberal arts are those skills or other subjects which were considered for the free people, for instance debate which is carried out in television programs. Additionally, liberal arts refer to subjects such as philosophy, mathematics and also literature. Literature is very critical, for instance students in higher education are taught how to write novels as well as course books. The students get to familiarize themselves with different writing styles and formats and also authors which makes a great foundation for the as future authors (Winter, 2011) . For instance, the school organizes for a big meeting with great authors and professors who are well known for writing and they get to attain ideas and skills on how to publish quality books. The students also get a chance to ask questions on writing, some students also present some of the copies they tried to type as a practice, and eventually end up getting a sponsorship for the publishing and marketing of their articles which becomes a motivating factor to the fellow students.

I did not chose Brandman to achieve only liberal arts education. I also wanted to get the right skill and knowledge which is necessary for the democratic society we have right now. The skills will also improve my job market qualifications since employers are not only requesting for the credentials but also quality knowledge and skills.

Civic engagement by definition is the promotion of life’s quality in a community or other society, by means of political or non-political processes. This area relates with liberal arts in that, it involves a combination of skills, knowledge as well as motivation and values to make the difference. Therefore, interaction with the members of the society is highly required (Winter, 2011) . This area is very important to me as an individual and my studies as well because it improves on my skills and knowledge as well as social interaction which is helpful in my future job.

‘ What matters in College’ according to the authors is the skills and high quality knowledge that we get from our course we are taking and how we eventually make use of them in our jobs in future. College education is not about the credentials we get or other the number of credentials the college offers, rather it is the quality of the knowledge attained, that is, the credential should count in the global. The credential should be productive. My reasoning was, for a college to be productive, it must give out a lot of credentials and the students should also have performed excellently, regardless of their skills, knowledge and understanding.
