Public arts have the significant function of informing and influencing the society to think in a particular manner. The Qatar Museums sponsored the Lusail Handball Installations public art. As such, this paper examines how the Lusail Handball Installations are framed within space, my thoughts concerning them being independent/public art, and my experience at the site.

How Lusail Handball Installations Are Framed

First, the objects are situated in Lusail Multipurpose Hall in Qatar. They are made up of massive bronze sculptures portraying an assortment of life-like hands raised to the sky. The structures were built in five months to symbolize challenge against time. Hence, its artist, Ahmed Al Bahrani, named them ‘The Challenge 2015.’ The Lusail Handball Installations are framed, hence, they are in line with the visual discourse of curating through which they talk to addressees. The framing of Lusail Handball Installations was performed by its artist who is accountable for his acts through his set laws. The laws include the involvement of time, known as historicity in the making of the sculptures. 1 It took Al Bahrani five months to have the hands reach out from the ground.

Similarly, Al Bahrani’s biography is evident in the Lusail Handball Installations through his oeuvre. The soring hands and arms growing from the ground show his perception of other people being successful by catching the ball, whereas others keep struggling to reach their dreams. Additionally, the pieces of hands are happy about Qatar's willpower to handball and associate art and sport in the town of Lusail. Also, the aesthetics of the Lusail Handball Installations show that they are framed because they look natural making viewers to feel welcomed and at home. 2

My Thoughts about Lusail Handball Installations Being Public Art and My experience

I am in support of having Lusail Handball Installations independent. This has enhanced the development of infrastructure in support of the art within the locality. There is more attention to the feature as an independent unit rather than having it in a museum. The management is able to learn about the challenges of enhancing the image of the art and come up with viable solutions.

Visting Lusail Handball Installations is one of the most thrilling moments of my life. Entering the place, I was engulfed with the feeling of determination and an urge to overcome every obstacle in life and reach out for the ball like the portrayed hands. I thought it was just a mere visit to view the size and design of the sculpture, but there was more to it. Looking at the sculpture, I felt great and determined to struggle with whatever challenge that would come my way. The traffic to the place was high due to a large number of people visiting the site.

Conclusion

Lusail Handball Installations are public art sculptures showing the local community the values and beliefs of aiming at their goals. The Lusail Handball Installations are framed using Ahmed Al Bahrani’s laws. Similarly, I learned that the Lusail Handball Installations has a massive emotional impact upon visiting.
