Major Problem Facing the Bowling Centre and How to Resolve: Specific Problem

The main issue facing the Bowling center is the inability to maximize its sales and profits due to the lanes that are not used. As much as the bowling center has sixteen lanes, the maximum number of paths that it has ever used is five during the men’s league. This implies that the company should maximize its capacity to earn more profit. The more the number of lanes used, the more revenue the business will receive. In other words, the company needs more activities that will utilize the excess paths to earn the twelve lifelong friends more income.

Five Specific Alternative Solutions: Related Positive and Negative Issues

The first solution that the corporation can use is to go upscale-transforming the bowling alley lane to a luxurious bowling alley lane. The center will include shopping centers or malls that will contain nightclubs, private bars, and VIP rooms. Consequently, this will attract more people who will spend money consistently without participating in the leagues thus earning the business partners more profits. In addition, the business can expand on the bar and restaurant to accommodate more consumers because where people spend time, they will probably dine with their friends too. The negative issue related to this option is that the firm will have to employ more staff to serve in the new areas ( Bateman, Snell, & Konopaske, 2018, p. 111 ).

Another solution is to identify the sales leaders among the staff and use them to influence other personnel. In every business sector, there ought to be a leader who guides the other employees towards the company’s mission and vision. Sales leaders will ensure that the business updates to the global application trends that will attract more customers. Nonetheless, there is the challenge of opposition from other staff members

Another solution is to take the corporation through the stage reversion phase. Notably, this permits the managerial board to recheck the initial planning and operation phases to identify areas that were not fully met that still seeks the management’s attention. This alternative will enable the firm to fill the voids of customer needs thus increasing their sales and profit, but they will incur cost and loss of time tracking back their previous processes ( Bateman, Snell, & Konopaske, 2018, p. 111 ).

The company should also build confidence in the staff to retain them on a full-time basis rather than a part-time basis. Employees need reassurance on the future of their jobs. Hence, when they notice the company doubts its operations, they also distrust their future source of income at the Bowling center. The company can reassure the staff of their future job by meeting their needs. The challenge of this solution is that the company will have to incur the cost of paying their current number of employees regardless of the poor performance of the business.

The company should also emphasize teamwork rather than individualism. For instance, the personnel ought to be involved in the decision-making process to boost their level of commitment. The disadvantage of this option is that staff opinions can only be heard but will rarely be implemented during trial moments.

2. The Decision Making Process Steps

Two heads are better than one hence when a group comes together to make decisions; they tend to produce more creative and effective ideas. As general manager, I would use brainstorming and dialectal inquiry technique during the group decision-making process. A group can use brainstorming approach that allows the group members to identify and explore the issue at hand and understand it better ( Bateman, Snell, & Konopaske, 2018, p. 110 ). During this process, the group leader takes down the opinions that the group has made. The next approach is the dialectal inquiry whereby the group is divided into two to debate on the merits and demerits of the proposed ideas. As a leader, I would assess the solutions that have more positive support from the group to produce a favorable outcome.

There are many advantages of group decision-making process. Group decision-making process helps to ensure effective execution of decisions. The opinions will be effective since the implementers of the decisions made also took part in the decision-making process ( Bateman, Snell, & Konopaske, 2018, p. 116 ). In other words, all employees should be involved in the decision-making process to form the opinions. Since two heads are better than one, there will be some solutions that can be generated from a team rather than from an individual. The group decision-making process eliminates personal biases thus providing room for dependable opinions. It also helps to obtain quality decisions ( Bateman, Snell, & Konopaske, 2018, p. 116 ).
