Management Information Systems (MIS) collects data from different online systems which later initiate the analysis of information. The MIS announces data that helps in the build-up (Laudon & Laudon, 2015). The MIS components (Management, Information, and Systems) help in organization management in building decisions and strategy making. As a result, goals are achieved through the acknowledgment of the three components.

Definition of Data and Information

Data is defined as the complete detail and fact lists such as symbols, figures, observations, and different descriptions. Data is the raw list that undergoes processing to obtain information. The data concept is associated with the collected scientific research by various research organizations. On the other hand, information is structured, organized, and processed data.

Explanation

Data is not organized and needs processing without which it is considered useless and random to humans. Data carries no logic as it is an individual unit. Data is independent of information- it does not need the information to be understood. Data is not specific since it is not suited to the designer's needs.

On the other hand, information is organized and processed data that is useful and relevant to humans. Information is data that is grouped and has a logical meaning. Indeed, information cannot stand on its own as it needs data, hence dependent on data. Information is very specific to the requirements and the expectations because all the irrelevant figures and facts are removed.

Definition of IT and IS

IT represents Information Technology while IS represents Information System. IT (Information Technology) defines the computing systems' uses to handle, transfer, redeem, and preserve information or data. IS (Information System) is described as the study of the system with specific backing to free networks of software, hardware, and information that people incorporate to dispense, develop, analyze, filter, and gather data.

Five-Component Model

The five-component model is made up of people, procedures, data, software, and hardware. The five components help in achieving a completely workable system. Information technology is the software and the hardware used in the transmission, usage, and storage of information. On the other hand, Information System is considered as the complete system that is not only comprised of both the software and the hardware but also data, processes, and people- used in the manipulation and storage of one or several processes. IT makes use of the technical aspects that help information systems while IS stands between the use of technology and the user. IS concentrates on information provided while IT is based on analysis and collection of information. IS management is concerned about system optimization while IT management is based on maintenance of hardware. IS is concerned about the IS policy development that is aimed at business aims and the specified functions while IT is based on necessity framing that is to be determined.

Conclusion

Management Information System (MIS) has become the ultimate productivity idea. MIS aids organizations in having effective developer performance and great influence as well. MIS ensures efficiency and helps managers establish a perfectly planned policy.
