During the 1950s, families in the United States of America were portrayed differently in the media. In this case, a traditional structure of families such as nuclear family was common on family dramas where the white’s middle-class families dominated these programs ( Berger & Carlson, 2020) . Also, children had different life as compared to the current young people. This is because they used to leave school early and most of them started working at the age of 14 years. Further, there were a few numbers of people who got the opportunity to advance their education. As compared to the current families, women have been given the opportunity to work in different organizations like men which was not the case in the traditional families while men are seen doing various household chores that were believed to belong to women ( Berger & Carlson, 2020) . Also, the images of families portrayed in the dramas comprise of both whites and blacks. Further, children start working at an advanced age about 18 years and above and they have the opportunity to advance their studies.

There is no doubt that marriage is a big commitment. As such, with the changing cultural attitudes towards marriage as a result of civilization among many other factors, many families have resorted to marriage alternatives. The common alternative to marriage that has been embraced by many people is cohabiting which only aimed at providing companionship but it has no much commitment ( Gubernskaya, Tang & Grover, 2017) . The choice of partner has also changed in the sense that homosexuality has been preferred by many people as compared to heterosexuality. Balancing work and family issues has made many families raise few children who do not get adequate parental love in the long run. Furthermore, choosing of partners has significantly changed as many people tend to marry professionals while others prefer getting married to persons who are not working to help manage house affairs ( Gubernskaya, Tang & Grover, 2017) . All these changes are attributed to the changing cultural attitude towards marriage.

Identify the causes and consequences of relevant problems within contemporary families: discuss the problems and stresses faced by many working families. Single parent, dual working, same-sex families in the United States. Discuss how some of these problems are being addressed by families, workplaces, or at the local or national level.
The common problems faced by the families include the management of chronic health conditions, divorce or separation, financial problems, drug abuse issues, death of family members, the pressure at work and the gambling addiction. Single parents are mainly affected by the financial problems especially when they do not have gainful employment and the stress of taking of care of the children at home alone ( Frost et al., 2017) . Same-sex families on the other hand face problems of discrimination and stigmatization which makes it hard for them to enjoy their social lives. Even with the stable financial position with the dual working families, they still face issues with divorce and separation because mistrust tends to come about due to work relationships and desire for independence.
The problems faced by same-sex families, dual working and single families in the United States of America can vary. In this case, the dual working families can address the problem of separation and divorce by being faithful and respecting the family. On the other hand, the same-sex families can cope with the challenges of stigmatization and discrimination by letting go the pride which makes them look different from the rest of the families thereby they can be able to live with them harmoniously ( Frost et al., 2017) . Many organization have implemented affirmative actions which allows single parents and other minority groups to have a share in the available opportunities. The government have also put in place frameworks to address various aspects relating to the family setups through court system. Finally, a single-parent family can address financial issues by seeking employment opportunities or start a business. Also, they can foster children to keep them company hence they can live a better life.

Why do reearchers and practitioners use several theoretical perspectives to interpret data or choose intervention strategies? How do researchers know which data collection method to use?
Practitioners and researchers are known to use various theoretical perspectives to interpret data or choose an intervention because they give them an opportunity to choose reliable and appropriate approaches to be employed. Essentially, theoretical perspectives presents various ways of interpreting data and choosing the interventions. As a result, the practitioner and researcher will consider the theoretical perspective that is applicable to the presented condition (Atkins et al. 2017). By so doing, it will help in yielding realistic results which in this case would increase the quality of health care outcome among the patients. However, using a single theoretical perspective would have jeopardized the attainment of desired results because the decision that would be made by the researcher or the practitioner would not have had a wide view thereby affecting the quality of outcome.
There are a number of ways that can be used by the researcher to know the data collection method to use. One of them is the kind of information that needs to be collected and the time frame for data collection. For instance, if the client would like to collect data about the perception of people about a particular policy affecting the community, a questionnaire could be used to collect information about the perception of the people. It should be noted that when the appropriate data collection method is used by the researcher, it makes it possible to achieve the predetermined goals of the research and vice versa.
