Marriott Hotels is the American multinational diversified hospitality company that manages and franchises a broad portfolio of hotels and related lodging facilities; J. Willard Marriott founded the Marriott Hotels, and the organization is now led by Bill Marriot, the Executive Chairman who is his son (Marriott, 2013). The Marriot Hotel affiliates itself with Christianity as inside the Bible there is the Book of Marmon founded by Latter Day Saints member J. Willard Marriott in 1927; the Book of Marmon available espouses the Marmon Values to guests (McDowell, 1995). The product and services provided by the Marriott Hotels have something to do with religion. For instance, the hotel is about to remove the pornographic or adult movie content from their pay-per view offerings because the church is opposed to pornography and due to that they have to obey the church; this shows how religion is guiding the services and products offered.

There are business practices discriminatory based on religion this is because the Marriott Hotels which is International Hotel puts a Bible and the Book of Marmon in their rooms. Being an international hotel, it reaches a diverse group of travelers which does not only constitute Christians but Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and even nonbelievers. The bible is meant for Christians only, and this discriminates against other religious believers. The company’s religious affiliation has caused a problem with the customers as the company run a campaign which supported gay, lesbianism, bisexual, and transgender acts which are not supported by the by the church. When Bill Marriott was questioned about this, he said that his Bible teaches him about honesty, integrity, and unconditional love for all people (Delollis, 2011)). This did not break any law because it is based on the interests of the people and the business. The company is not discriminating based on religion but rather practicing on the freedom of expression. This is because being a private company it has the right to what it is pleased with as they have freedom of expression.
