Israel has indeed taken measures to protect their country against terrorist attacks. I agree that some tactics enacted tend to be controversial, while others cause no disputes in the general public and international countries. The counterterrorism measures used by Israel, either causing controversy or not has proven effective to some extent. I agree with Mary that the policies incorporated in the targeted assassination are the most controversial strategies used by Israel. This policy indeed has less regard for the innocent lives as it tends to generalize an entire group as an enemy. Mary's weak argument on this issue is, trying to justify the target assassination approach used by Israel by concluding that Israel also tends to suffer adversely from the inhuman tactics applied by their enemies against Israel. The targeted assassination policy is not pragmatically and ethically justified (Carvin, 2012). There is no justification for taking an innocent life, especially if it can be avoided. Her strong argument is that speed in fighting terrorism is critical. I concur that time wasted in responding to fighting terrorist attacks leads to lost lives.
I agree that some measures applied by Israeli to fight terrorism tend to be controversial, and in most cases, they cause more harm than benefits. I concur that Mosaad is a powerful body that handles matters associated with counterterrorism in Israel. This body has been given so much power that its actions are not limited to constitution laws (Thomas 2015). Jimmy's compelling argument, which I concur with, is that most of the controversial strategies utilized by Israel do not necessarily solve the issue of terrorism and cause more harm than good. For instance, Jimmy has argued that using target assassination as an approach to fight terrorism may yield a more powerful attack by the enemy. It triggers the enemy to fight back even harder. I find Jimmy's argument on agreeing that Israeli police are well equipped with skills and knowledge on handling bombs, and they have expert snipers in their police forces and then contradict his statement by saying that these aspects ted to have no benefits in counterterrorism. In my personal view, I believe these factors give the Israel police an upper hand in fighting terrorism.
