It is quite evident in the public domain that people who suffer from mental illness or mental health disorders are not accorded the requisite attention in the field of public health. In this context, it is quite imperative to take note of the fact that the majority of the victims of mental health complications are never aware of the disorder unless they have gone through a diagnosis. In most circumstances, people, whether suffering from mental health issues or not, tend to focus only on their personal physical health status. On the same note, Savic et al. (2016) observe that the majority of the victims of mental disorders do not understand the meaning of mental health complications or are not aware of how the mental disorder affects them as they run their daily activities. Consequently, Thomas et al. (2016) affirm the fact that inadequate policies to address the concern of mental health has not been enacted in a substantial way, and this reveals why mental health issues do not get as much attention as the physical health.

According to Thomas et al. (2016) there are several ways of battling mental health issues in a bid to ensure the victims receive treatments in a modest way in the public health sector. For instance, the victims of mental health complications need to be effectively informed on the modalities they could apply and assess their mental health status prior to receiving treatments. Such techniques of curbing the mental health issue could include organizing nationwide interventions with an objective of informing the public (Shaffer, Blaszczynski & Ladouceur, 2019). Another significant approach to changing the situation entails advocating for the enactment of health policies that support the mental health issues in a bid to enable the government, and private firms to find amicable methodologies of fighting the concern of mental health disorders.

In summary, it is quite conclusive to note that mental health issues can affect everyone irrespective of his or her nationality. Hence, several approaches to counter the issue needs to be a primary objective of any nation, particularly in their public health sectors.
