The play is rich in portraying love, jealousy, and magic as the core themes that define the Athenians' morality and the fairies that influence their endeavors. Love is a virtue, but the play showcases difficulty in love. There is an asymmetrical balance between four Athenian youths that creates a conflict that fairies need to intervene in. With a problem in love comes jealousy as one lover has too many suitors in her pursuit, and another has none. In the first instance, Hermia is loved by Lysander and Demetrius, and no one loves Helena, but she loves Demetrius and therefore becomes jealous of Hermia. Demetrius is also jealous of Lysander since Hermia is in love with him. As stated by Lysander, "The course of true love did run smooth." Magic as a theme and inflicted by the fairies turned tables of the love affair to both Lysander and Demetrius falling in love with Helena. Tentatively, Hermia becomes jealous to the point of waging a brawl for the ma she loves. Magic, as induced by Puck, one of the fairies as instructed by King Oberon, was applied wrongfully, creating chaos. That was later resolved to create a symmetrical balance in love between the four Athenian youth who returned home to have a group wedding together with Theseus and Hippolyta. The interplay between love and jealousy and the resolution using magic makes the play interactive, fantastic, and appealing to the audience engaged in a pleasant and vindictive manner.

Translating the Shakespeare play into prime time TV series would have negligible differences since love and jealousy are societal themes present in every society. The magic aspect would be altered as the series might be set up on a realistic platform that appeals to contemporary audiences, such as a political setting or a dynasty. The Athenians could be the elite members of society, the social class's cream who often have difficulty in love and power, and jealousy results. Theseus can be portrayed as a prominent political figure. Maybe a state senator or even the president, and the original play's magic be replaced with money and power as themes. Hence, the series would be how the rich and powerful use their power and affluence to affect their love lives. The play is very likable in the sense that love triumphed despite all the obstacles before it. Hermia's father, Egeus, was ready to banish and even execute her if she went against his wish and order of marrying Demetrius. But she was willing to risk it all and elope with Lysander to his aunt's house, seven leagues distant from the City. This, together with Helena's betrayal were all surmounted by the power of love and the pursuit of happiness, even if it takes a little bit of magic, which is fascinating and makes the play relatable and stand out. "…differences in birth or age and difficulties caused by friends or war, death, or sickness, which make love seem swift as a shadow, short as any dream." Lysander explains to Hermia in despair how the love is under siege, but the star-crossed lovers will persevere and their happy ending.
