What is the literal meaning of the phrase mise-en-scène?

Mise  en  scène  is taken to mean the act of placing on stage literally . Therefore, within the movie on the shape of water, it refers to what we see on screen in a  film . It's a combination of all the elements that appear on camera and their arrangement. Therefore, according to (Barsam, & Monahan, 2015), what we can see as being trapped in a life of isolation where Elisa and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment changed her life forever is concerned to be the mise-en-scène within the book

What do we mean by this phrase more generally when we discuss movies? Mise-En-S cène refers to the general organization among actors and actress while presenting themselves onto the stage. It is the background picture that viewers have and make them predict the next center of action within the play. It is also the entire arrangements of the elements within other movies. For example, it shows the editing and presentation of actors and actress through their photos.

What are the two major visual components of mise-en-scène? For visuals within a movie to take place, different factors are considered to have contributions to the existence of these visuals. The primary visual components of mise-en-scène include the setting and the décor. The setting of a scene is the literal physical space in which it unfolds, and it is considered to have a significant impact on the visuals. For example, are we in a big, airy room, or a small, cramped one? On the other hand, t he decor is also revealing within the setting. It shows symbolically of something about the story or character. 

Does a movie’s mise-en-scène happen by accident? If not, what or who determines it? 

The movie’s mise-en-scène cannot happen by accident. However, there are scenarios where the visuals are captured while the concern people or animals are not aware. In this case, the producer is aware of the occurrences of the movie’s mise-en-scène. It is determined by several factors including preparation of the producers. 

What are the principal responsibilities of the production designer? Production designers are responsible for the visual concept of a film, television or theatre production, ( Oddey, 2013) . All the identification of the design style for sets, locations, graphics, props, lighting, camera angles, and costumes, while working closely with the director and producer are done by production designers.

Name and briefly discuss the major elements of cinematic design. Some significant elements of cinematic design include development of costuming; development of decoration and setting; uses of colors, sounds and lighting; and uses of the camera, (( Oddey, 2013) . Each component has a specific role in the overall composition of the film and can impact how the viewers see and hear the film, which ultimately influences their perception of the story being told , (( Oddey, 2013) .

Composition refers to the nature of movie's ingredients or constituents; how the setup of the film is made up.

The major elements of the composition are the organization and distribution. This is how the movie is generally organized while distribution is how the actress and actors are represented within the movie .
