The article determines the cultural influences of self-care when it comes to having an impact on ethnic minorities. The main focus was made on heart failures amongst the ethnic minorities more the black people. Qualitative and quantitative methods are all used in the study. Some things could have been lost in case only one type of data is used.
If only the qualitative method could have been used in the study, some factors could not have been captured in the study. First, it could not have been known the gender which is profoundly affected by the Heart Failure and also faces the issues rated to the cultural beliefs which limit medications. It is through a quantitative method that it was found out that 60% of the male participants are cultural beliefs ( Dickson, McCarthy, Howe, Schipper, & Katz, 2013). It is through quantitative research that it becomes clear that spirituality has a negative effect on heart failure medication, while social norms support self-care.

In case the quantitative method could have been used alone, some information could have been lost. It is through the overarching qualitative themes that the nursing research was analyzed for the provision of some essential information. It is through the qualitative method that the cultural influences when it comes to self-care were determined among the group of focus. It was realized through the qualitative approach that the function accredited to HF is from the social norms, and spirituality influences the medication. These could have been lost if quantitative could have been used alone.
Quantitative and quantitative methods have different weaknesses and strengths. The qualitative part is used for the generation of theory and hypothesis, and the quantitative approach verifies this. The shortcomings in qualitative are answered by quantitative methods, while the weaknesses of quantitative are responded to by qualitative methods.
