Most kids, particularly boys, experiment with fire when they are young. However, some can be the normal developmental explorations, while others are potential future arsonists. For normal developmental explorations, the motive of the kid is curiosity and experimenting. However, for future arsonists, the red flags include those who are noticeably excited when watching fires, children who engage in secret fire settings or mix chemicals in various mixtures, who engage in daredevil behaviors, mainly with fire, and those who play with matches from an as early age as 3.

The property owner has used arsons for-profits to collects insurance proceeds for the fire they cause themselves. Most of the property owners hire someone to set fire to distance them from blame. I believe the property owner who does this should receive harsher punishment compared to the second person who conducts the crime. They may cause loss of life, increase insurance premiums, and other expenses accosted with the fire. The problem can be managed through the cooperation and collaborative efforts of the law enforcement, fire investigators, legal systems, and insurance professionals.

When a firefighter dies when extinguishing a fire, the arsonist is not legally responsible for that death because firefighter is responsible for their safety when they enter an already burning building. There are various dangers associated with the occupation, including dying from the fire, toxins entering the body, or getting injured. The firefighters are taught how to take care of themselves during fire extinguishing operations and are aware of the risks.

Many volunteer firefighters have been found guilty of committing arson. The motivating factor is boredom or the prospects of getting attention to responding to the fire they have caused. About 100 US firefighters are convicted every year. The other motivations are excitement and concealing a crime. The excitement motive suggested that the firefighter wanted to be seen as a hero.
