The chest pain unit located in the Emergency Department gave practical experiences on Priming IV Tubing. I gained experience in eliminating the air inside the tubing using the primary and secondary IV solution. Primarily, I placed IV fluid in IV tubing and managed to clear all the air in it before attaching the IV tube to my patient. The experience aimed at equipping me with safety skills in the emergency department as well as furnishing me with skills of priming and tubing that are essential for anyone working in the chest pain unit. In addition, the experience aimed at boosting my confidence in handling the equipment in the emergency department without being clumsy.
Noteworthy, working at the chest pain unit was fulfilling and insightful since I left the emergency department with bolstered confidence and first-hand experience in priming and tubing. Moreover, the experience was a success, as it enabled me to interact with the environment inside an emergency department and familiarize myself with the activities that happen inside the unit. Moreover, the experience ignited my urge to learn more regarding the operation in the emergency department.

I loved the experience inside the emergency department as it provided me with an opportunity to interact with other practitioners within the department and gave me some sense of identity. I loved being part of the team in the chest pain unit as the practitioners guided me on various issues, making me feel like one of them. I developed a liking for the emergency department, which replaced the fear that used to be my definition of the place.
However, the bureaucracy that I was compelled to follow before being allowed in the emergency department was awful and discouraging. Many clearance procedures with different department heads wasted my time thus limiting my stay in the emergency department. In addition, it was difficult to ask some questions, particularly during emergencies when every practitioner was engaged, which made learning difficult.
