Efficient communication and teamwork are vital for the dispensing of high-quality in-team interactions. Therefore, it is critically significant to develop an atmosphere in a team in which people may speak out and express apprehensions and share common vital language. One observation indicates that diversity presents an added gain to a group. Every cultural standpoint is a separate source from which to draw upon. A more optimistic view suggests that cultural differences are essentially variances in "knowledge." As a result, they generate combinatory profits. Every socially unique addition enhances the group’s performance geometrically. A less optimistic view holds that at a particular instance, there are reduced returns. The element of diversity presents gains on a fresh perspective. Increased rigidity in the group averts group thinking and compels it to scrutinize matters that are characteristically presumed to be, and the awareness might be combinatorically leveraged.

Personality  involves an individual’s comparatively steady feelings, opinions, and behavioral patterns. Everyone possesses an exceptional personality that sets us apart from other individuals. Comprehending an individual’s character presents us with indications of how a particular individual is expected to portray and feel in various situations ( Roberson, 2019) . In this case, I possess a proactive personality. This involves an inclination to fix what is wrong, changing things, and using initiative to solve challenges. Rather than waiting to be communicated on what to do, being a proactive person, I tend to introduce significant change and eliminate the problems faced along the way. Second, value involves the element of openness. This is the level at which an individual is inquisitive, inventive, knowledgeable, imaginative, and open to fresh concepts. In a diverse cultural setting, openness is an essential component that greatly facilitates communication among individuals from diverse backgrounds ( Mateescu, 2017). Open-mindedness leads to the urge to seek more information and feedback on the progress and building relations, which results in faster adjustment.

In terms of how I perceive diversity, I consider it a challenge. The problem for cross-cultural communication may not be regarded as a new aspect in the current working environments. Diversity does not just involve how individuals identify themselves but also how they identify other individuals. The insights significantly impact the communication and interaction approaches ( Cletus et al., 2018) . Various challenges faced attributed to diversity within groups is the language barrier. Even though English is the standard dialect universally, most non-English speakers may feel ignored and unappreciated in the workstation. They have a challenge communicating their views in their non-native dialect. Another challenge involves a different understanding of professional etiquette. While it may be inspiring and valuable in a diverse expert atmosphere, it may also result in misinterpretations or hostile feelings amongst team members (Dastane & Eshegbe, 2015). Another challenge involves generalizations and assumptions. For instance, for several individuals, eye contact is regarded as a rude gesture, while for others abstaining from a similar occurrence is deemed as disrespectful. These disparities majorly result in confusion.

Conclusion

It is unavoidable that we will find ourselves in a small group discussion with individuals originating from diverse cultural backgrounds. Cultural and ethnic diversity may impact groups by enhancing invention, performance, group practices, and group gratification. Invention increases as various standpoints within the group may widen the public's opinions and their capacity to assess. Cultural diversity in a small group or large group may have a positive and negative impact. The positive impact may involve every individual in the group capable of learning new perspectives about other cultures. On the other hand, the adverse effects may entail that each individual in the group interprets the message being conveyed differently. Whether or not a group’s diversity will lead to a good or bad result strictly relies on how individuals retort and collaborate.
