Planning entails chalking out future actions, plans, or strategies. In threat assessment, effective planning is essential as an effective threat assessment approach allows an entity or an individual to categorize various threats based on their exceptional set of features (Nurse et al., 2018). This activity aids inefficient planning and enhances elucidations that assist in resolving threats. Risk assessment varies in various scopes of professions. For instance, school counselors, security workers, and military officers are tasked with evaluating and monitoring risk assessments. A threat is not the same as a risk, signifying the importance of observing, analyzing, and monitoring any situation with the seriousness it requires. When choosing the best plan of action for any threat, it is vital to consider cost-effectiveness, benefits, and the least threatening manner to avert the danger. The paper aims at analyzing concepts in planning and threat assessment in transporting a client, methods to consider, and workplace violence.
Concepts
In this case, the scenario where I am the head of security for eight people, I need to strategize the expedition from the client's homestead to the court and back while offering maximum safety for the client's staff. Various traits need to be applied to provide a sufficient executive protection professional (EPP) for my client. According to Herring (2017), successful EPPs need to spend most of their time anticipating potential threats and risks instead of examining the causes. Heads of security who offer this kind of protection need to have integrity and honesty in line with a robust moral setting. Courage, determination, and confidence are other core competencies that will demonstrate to the client that fear is not in the question.
Delegate your assignment to our experts and they will do the rest.
An effective EPP should also depict undivided attention to the client's security and be irrational when things are not working in order. Flexibility is vital, which helps in dealing with changes that might occur in the line of duty. These attributes enable executive protection professionals to be trusted by their customers. Excellent communication skills are essential in giving the client instructions and dealing with the public concerning the client (Wills, 2018). Having a fair judgment for an EPP is vital to guarding a client and be empathetic to depict that they understand their work and serve as examples to their subordinates. For example, when transporting the client from the house, an EPP should make sound judgments on the roads' use and the vehicles' speed.
Transport Concern
In the event of transporting a high-profile, outspoken, and white supremacist, the EPP should be alert and ready to deal with any risk or threat that could occur along the way. The travel time between the client's homestead and the court is an hour, making it essential for the motorcade to take the freeway. Various circumstances need to be assessed and considered when transporting the client. Individuals might be waiting for the client's vehicle on the freeway, ready to hit his vehicle. This would be for either by killing the client or attempting to rescue and take him away. The best suitable option is to form a diamond-shaped arrangement with the police chase cars covering the convoy from either side. This hinders any intruder from hitting the white supremacist vehicle.
Subsequently, on climbing the courthouse's steps, the EPP should be alert and form a semicircular shape defense around the client since he might desire to talk to the media. In this case, the EPP would liaise with the court in providing a safe entourage free from any clearance. This approach would hinder the client from communicating with anyone. It also leaves no room for any danger reaching the client. When such transport plans are put into consideration, it is not only the client's safety that will be paramount, but the entire security team and the general public will be safe.
The Methods to Apply
The EPP applies diverse methods when handling large or small groups of people, varying according to the situation. The situation is also different when protecting an individual at a social event or place of work. At the workplace, security concerns can be concentrated on health threats or risks that can prevent an individual from effectively performing their duties. In social events, The EPP's task ranges from speculating a possible shooter or sniper, the occurrence of a hostage scenario, to the emergence of a riot. According to Hope (2017), effective planned threat assessment will eliminate the possibility of any undesirable situation happening, or if so, the general public will not be able to understand. However, it is imperative to cover the client out of sight to hinder any distractions from inside or outside the court.
Workplace Violence
Employees are always exposed to violence or threats in the workplace. Workplace violence might happen inside or outside the workstation and entails physical assaults, verbal abuse, homicide, among other life-threatening instances. According to Tufano (2020), workplace violence is any deed or threat of bodily violence, intimidation, harassment, and any intimidating conduct that transpires in the workplace. Anyone is subject to workplace violence if the employer or employees can do it. As the head of security to my client, workplace violence can emerge based on individual attitudes, feelings, and behavior. With this client having lots of opinions and notions, he might tend to utter undesirable words that might be slanderous. All attention should always be fixed on the client to hinder him from making any unnecessary comments. The EPP should also be alert to the crowd around the courthouse and the homestead to prevent them from causing harm to the client. I will ensure that my security team is ready for any impending danger to the client and guarantee his people's safety. The priority will be to neutralize any incoming threat through the help of other security professionals.
Conclusion
The planning and threat assessment approach by an EPP is crucial in safeguarding a client's safety and well-being. Chalking out the entire strategy to fellow security staff is also vital in ensuring that everyone understands what is expected. Risks and threats are different; hence analyzing any situation before taking any action is paramount. Factors to be considered in offering adequate executive protection entail the cost, benefits, and the least life-threatening options in threat and risk prevention. Additionally, various core values are vital in an EPP's duty, including integrity, honesty, determination, focus, and teamwork. These values help enhance executive protection professionals' cognitive awareness in crafting strategies to threat and risk assessment. Security teams apply various methods to strengthen the maximum protection of individuals at their workplace or social gatherings. When protecting a small or large group, diverse tactics can be applied, different from those used to protect an individual client.
