There exists a dire need for healthcare digitisation in today’s modern world. Integration of healthcare IT and digital health tools is critical in identification of new illnesses, improving quality of life and minimization of total healthcare cost by trimming bills for providers and patients. Federal, state and regulatory agencies such as the Centers for Mediate and Medicaid (CMC) establish policies and guidelines that regulate advancements such as healthcare digitisation. The study summarises 3 articles that supports need for active uptake of digitisation in healthcare sector.

Summary for each Articles

Article one on Enterprise Resource Planning System: Digitisation of Healthcare Service Quality by Fiaz and IIyas evaluates the perception of healthcare professionals towards digitisation of healthcare in improving quality of services in healthcare centers. Fiaz and IIyas recommend digitisation through deployment of Enterprise Resource Planning. The study employed collected and sampled data from 279 medical professionals through self-administered questionnaires ( Fiaz, Ikram & Ilyas, 2018) . The study found that digitisation of healthcare through Enterprise Resource Planning results in a better system output that capacitates healthcare professionals in provision of improved healthcare service quality. The article notes that database managemnet system and IT tools result to widespread improvement in healthcare in terms of quality and efficiency. Efforts on integration of technological advancement aimed at digitising healthcare are usually focused on realising healthcare quality and cost minimisation.

Introduction of ERP in healthcare leads to improved ability of an organization to generate timely and accurate information. There is an urgent need to implement an IT enabled healthcare system to help in disease diagnosis, management improvement and provision of better services. In their findings, Fiaz and IIyas established that ERP has a positive result in its implementation in healthcare sector. ERP integration stands to help healthcare organizations achieve a competitive edge as well as enable medical professionals provide better quality healthcare service. The study also provides policy makers and regulators in healthcare with a practical understanding of factors affecting healthcare quality. As Fiaz et al., (2018) notes, digitisation of healthcare sector through implementation of ERP would lead to realisation of benefits such as quick access to critical healthcare information, and cost panning, reduced corruption as well as nurse and doctor’s productivity.

The second article by Steinhubl, Eric and Topol focuses on moving from digitalization to digitization particularly in cardiovascular health care. The study aims at establishing why digitisation in healthcare is important and what it could mean to providers and patients. The article gives a comprehensive summary of the digital medicine field and a review of evidence that offers support on areas where digitisation can have a substantial impact ( Steinhubl & Topol, 2015) . Steinhubl, Eric and Topol notes that digitisation of healthcare if properly implemented stands to improve patient outcomes, convenience, lower healthcare costs ultimately leading to increased patient satisfaction. Institutionalization of digital tools appropriately would achieve precision in medicine and provide much more high definition of patient view.

Additional benefits that could be realised from digitisation include rapid genetic testing and operationalization of wearable sensors to enable tracking of physiological parameters continuously. Steinhubl, Eric and Topol explain that through digitisation, healthcare institutions would realise improved physician-patient relationship and pave way for pro-active human interaction following bolstered care by digital technologies. More importantly, digitisation would also achieve enhanced individualised treatment and diagnostics. Integrating digital technologies would provide a more understanding of inter-individual variation regarding expression of disease signs and symptoms as well as refinement of diagnosis and likely treatment ( Steinhubl & Topol, 2015) . The technologies can achieve the objectives through longitudinal and searchable EHRS. Wearable sensors supported by digital techniques would permit biometric data tracking and performance of hospitality quality monitoring using non obtrusive tech devices. Mobile technologies that are cardiovascular home focussed would be critical in measuring BP without a cuff. Incorporation of automated evidence based clinical support enabled by healthcare digitisation would eliminate the gap created by unanswered clinical questions ( Steinhubl & Topol, 2015) . Synergizing human and technology in healthcare would transform the medicine hence improving healthcare.

Article three by Habran , Saulpic and Zarlowski undertakes an empirical research in healthcare digitalisation with a special focus on projects proposed by practitioners. Saulpic and Zarlowski emphasize that digitalisation in healthcare exemplified by IT technologies remains emergent and an urgent need to sufficiently meet clinicians and patient’s expectations ( Habran, Saulpic & Zarlowski, 2018) . The reading sheds light and presents debates on ways to improve innovation efficiency through incorporation of technology in healthcare. The study received 45 responses with 29 of them including digital data in their design. The findings explain that digital innovations in healthcare promote participatory approaches and exhibit equity in healthcare. Innovation in healthcare according to the article can be driven by digital tools. The study recommends scaling up of mobile health services by relying on smartphone applications in an attempt to drive innovation.

Digital technologies are key in improving efficiency and effectiveness of patient engagement and care. The study recommends uptake of tools such as m-health, electronic health records, e-learning, social media, bid data as well as e-health legal frameworks to support digital development in healthcare. The technology supported tools are important in offering efficient health services in training care givers, providing therapeutic education as well as acquiring and communicating data ( Habran et al., 2018) . The innovations allow tele-consultation/tele-expertise and medical data sharing involving a doctor and a care giver or a remoter expert and patient. Integration of technological tools stands to promote home support and reduce unnecessary expenses and time wastage associated with patient visits to the doctor by accessing distant experts. Mobilisation of telecommunication in healthcare either through video or audio leads to realisation of patient outcomes by monitoring patients and carrying frequent follow-ups remotely ( Habran et al., 2018)

Conclusively, e-health initiatives supported by digital development in healthcare leverage on sustained efficiency and effectiveness of digital healthcare innovations hence enabling realisation of technological solutions and anticipated healthcare objectives. Thus, digitisation provides an added value ultimately improving medial/patient care.
