There are countless gang-related incidents in West Brighton deli. Two days before the latest incident a teenage boy got shot on the chest in the same region and a young boy of roughly 16 years was behind the attack (Kyle Lawson, 2019). The report indicates that it has been the norm for teenage children to have illegal custody of guns even though it is against the law. The young boy was arrested and charged with illegal possession of a firearm. The gang attacks are experienced more in the northern section of the borough. Most of the criminal incidents that take place in the region are related to gang activities. Among the many shooting incidents that get reported annually, almost half of such incidents take place in West or New Brighton. Such gangs are divided in several crews with each crew occupying part of the many neighborhoods. Crew members recently use computer emoji’s such as explosions to pass across criminal messages and talk about their activities without incriminating themselves (Kyle Lawson, 2019). The same gangs go to social media where they pass messages about alleged criminal activities. Such messages get attached with photos of the gang members indicating different gang signs. There was a violent scene that broke out in 2018 in which the police attributed to a long-standing feud between gang crews from New and West Brighton (Kyle Lawson, 2019). This happened after an alleged gang which was suspected to carry the gang rivals drove and shot aimlessly, killing an innocent person who was standing by the road. Such incidents lead to death and injuries even though they get met by police interventions. Back in 2009, there was a bloody attack from the gang members which resulted in the death of four men within one month. The self-proclaimed gang members of Staten Island gang crew recently posted a meme that was re-shared on social media which indicated that they were thankful to God that they were alive.
