Ship description and logic for choosing

The Norwegian Breakaway is a relatively new ship that has modern features. It debuted for the first time in 2013 and had a capacity of 3,969 passengers (Line, 2017). It is ideal for family sea adventure because of the numerous facilities that are contained in the ship. Ranging from the children to the adults, the Norwegian Breakaway has amenities that accommodate everyone. There is a kids’ area that has a PlayStation as well as a dance floor. Besides, there is an aqua park where kids can swim. The Norwegian Breakaway also has an entourage teen lounge where the teenagers can spend their time while cruising. Other services on board include cafes, bars, sporting, and casinos, among others. While on the entourage, everyone will have something to do without intruding into the privacy of another. Moreover, the outward appearance of the Norwegian Breakaway is decorative and appealing to the family.

Marquee ports and logic for choosing

A marquee port offers exciting features for members aboard the cruise ship to see. The marquee ports that the passengers will see are Havana and Nassau. Havana port is in Cuba, and therefore there is a high likelihood that families on board will develop the excitement of seeing a foreign country. The families will have the opportunity to alight and visit the city. Havana boasts of old architectural treasures, magnificent avenues, and promenades, friendly people, music as well as rich culture (Kolivras, 2009). Exploring the city will break the monotony of the long journey from New York.

Nassau prides on a blend of cultures that stretch from West Africa to England as well as from Haiti to the United States. Nassau is one of the most prominent ports and would, therefore, be appropriate for the crew to visit after the voyage from Havana. The language spoken on the island is English, and it will be a great relief for families to communicate freely with the inhabitants freely after the Cuba visit. For the first timers, it will be an excellent opportunity to explore the Bahamas. Nassau also boasts of one of the best cocktails. The time that the ship will call at Nassau (1800 hours) will offer the best chance for the families to enjoy some part of the nightlife of the Island as well as taste some drinks (MarineTraffic, 2017).

Bunkering ports and the logic for choosing

Bunkering ports are used by the ships to refuel and receive supplies as well. Port Canaveral and Freeport will act as the bunkering ports. The long stretch of 845 miles from New York will necessitate the Norwegian Breakaway to stop and collect supplies (Portworld, 2017). The crew will not be allowed to alight and will be encouraged to use the ship waterfront to have a view of the port. Port Canaveral is also part of the US and does not offer much of adventure regarding culture change (SeaDistances, 2017). The Freeport in the Bahamas will also be used for receiving fuel supplies in preparation for the one day and twenty-two hours journey to New York.

Profit/ Loss for the Cruise

It is projected that the set fee of $1249 per an adult will offset all the preparation expenses as well as pay for wages of different stakeholders that operate the ship. The total estimated number of passengers is set at 3, 000. If this number is attained, the management of the vessel will be able to manage all costs and save a significant amount of revenue. A turnout of fewer than two thousand passengers will represent a loss for the cruise. The management will struggle to pay the accrued costs to various parties. The different people that ought to be paid include those in the cockpit, engineers, chefs, bar attendants, sporting aides, entertainers, those who offer cleaning services, among others. Several measures have been taken to curb any loss that might arise such as providing premium services on board whereby able members of the crew will pay for at relatively higher prices. For instance, selling of antique items and drinks such as cocktail.

Lessons learned from simulation

Simulations offer an array of experiences. First, proper planning is very essential (Naciri, Waals and Wilde, 2007). From the onset, an individual is faced with the challenge of choosing between several equally crucial aspects. From this simulation test, one is required to pick on the most appropriate ship, the ports to call and as well come up with the most suitable speed that ensures that the vessel operates within the stipulated time frame. Since costs are always involved in many operations, simulation tests, offer projections of what is bound to happen and provide a foundation upon which stakeholders carry out their procedures.
