The core content of Paul’s teaching was the death and the resurrection of Christ and how through this sacrifice, believers were made worthy of the kingdom of God. By extension, Paul preached about how a Christian, who has been saved through the mercy of God and not his or her good deeds should interact with others so that the works of Christ should be seen through him or her. He insists on being Christ like and for the believers to act differently from non-believers.
As a result of being in Christ, the Ephesians believers were not to view themselves as superior to their counterparts. Paul reminds them that initially, they were gentiles by birth and they were uncircumcised. But circumcision is just on the flesh. Through the death of Jesus, there has been a reconciliation between the Jews and non-Jews. He therefore indirectly advices them to live in peace and to regard each other as their equals because Christ has removed the barriers that existed before. He also adds that to those who were initially gentiles, they are no longer foreigners but followers of Christ with Jesus himself as a cornerstone.

The Ephesian were living in love as a young Christian community. Paul intercedes for them that Christ might strengthen them and they might continue living in love. Paul tells them to continue staying in love. Since they profess one faith through baptism, he urges them to live in peace. He also urges them to utilize the gifts that the spirit gives. In that, he reminds them that they are all different but the purpose of all of them is to serve Christ in the church. Paul also insists on the Christians not lying and not being angry with each other in order not to give the devil a place in their lives.
One of the biggest emphasis by Paul is for the Christians to walk in love. He urges the Ephesians to be imitators of Christ. Besides this, he asks them to walk in light. This characterizes a Christian and sets them apart from a non-believer. Besides this, he also urges them to be wise and not fools because the times in which they lived required great wisdom. In the illustration of marriage and the church, he asks wives to submit to their husbands, husbands to love their wives as they love themselves and the children to respect their parents. He also urges parents to raise children in the required manner. Besides, slaves are also to respect their earthly masters. This way, all of them are likely to live in harmony.
Christian faith and life is one which professes who Jesus is through the acts of love 4:15, forgiveness, not being angry at each other , sharing , walking in the light and above all, living in peace with each other regardless of whether one is a gentile or a Jew. A Christian should not lie and should always be ready to tell the truth in all occasions 4:25. In terms of working, one should labor to get their daily bread and should not steal 4:28. A Christian should not be of wrath, being angry with one another for whatever reason and should not utter evil words to each other 4:31. In terms of marriage and family life, for a Christian, the husband, as the head of the family is to love his wife and raise his children according to the church’s doctrines. The wife is to submit to his husband 5:22-28. The children should respect their parents as that is the greatest commandment and one with a promise 6:1-3. Faith in a Christian implies not giving up regardless of the circumstances that one faces. One should not only pray for themselves but should also remember to pray for others 6: 18. On this particular one, a Christian is to fight off all the tribulations that he or she faces with prayers. Another aspect that should be reflected in a life of a Christian is being humble. One should not boast of the salvation they receive through the death of Christ as it is by grace that all are saved and all Christians are God’s handiwork 2:8-10.Besides the above, a Christian should walk in light and should not be involved in things that are done in secret, most of which do not please God. One’s actions must be a reflection of Christ who himself gives a Christin the light to walk in and act in accordance to his will 5:10-12.In addition, a Christian must also have wisdom to discern what is right and wrong. One should not be drunk but instead have the spirit of God in him or her 5:18.
