Question One

The video indicates that nurses play a vital role in the healthcare system. Without nurses, some crucial activities in hospitals, nursing homes, and other places where care is needed will not be fulfilled. Nurses are tasked with responsibilities that range from assessing patients, prescribing medications, formulating diagnoses, developing treatment, and ordering lab tests (Johnson & Johnson Nursing, 2014). Nurses help physicians, and these health practitioners need the help of each other; this implies that if there is inadequate staffing at a facility, the staff will all be affected. The video depicts a health facility that has one physician who visits the hospital in one week. Physicians should be available at health facilities at most times. It is surprising how nursing has advanced over recent years (Johnson & Johnson Nursing, 2014). Nursing has enabled nurses to take care of their patients at home, temporary shelters, and workplaces. Nurses are getting into the community with the help of advanced technology. They are able to check on their patients' progress wherever they are other than making travel long distances to hospitals.

Question Two

Nurses need to get enough sleep and rest between shifts. Nurses are tasked with the responsibility of protecting the lives of patients; for this reason, if they do not get sufficient rest, they may jeopardize the lives of their patients (Nejati et al., 2016). Overworked nurses can suffer from burn out or stress. The reason why most nurses work through their breaks is that there is inadequate staffing. Health care facilities need to ensure that they have an adequate nursing staff to make it easier for nurses to take breaks and rest. There should strict rules concerning shift; whenever it is a nurse's time to be off, the head of a health facility should ensure that a nurse goes home for their shift (Nejati et al., 2016). Also, breaks in between work should be taken seriously by ensuring that a nurse goes on a break when it is time for their break. Adequate rest improves a nurse’s performance at work.
