Poverty has been attributed to two main primary causes. The first cause of poverty is individuals having poor levels of education. The technological advances and different life needs require quality education to sustain a quality and healthy life. The second cause of poverty is lack of employment. Many people who are not employed cannot afford basic life requirements, leading them to live below quality life standards.

The Most Affected

The most affected group by the impacts of poverty is children. This is because they are not in a position to strive on their own to make money for basic things. Another group that is likely to be affected by poverty is adults aged 18 to 64, proceeding from poverty in their childhood.

Psychological Effects of Poverty

Poverty can lead to psychological problems such as stress. This is because many individuals who are affected by poverty will struggle to maintain a certain standard of living for themselves and their families, leading to increased stress.

Poverty can increase and also be the main cause of mental diseases. This is due to the disparities created by the economic, social, and physical environment that the affected individual lives in. It will negatively affect their mental status.

Poverty is an implication that the affected individual cannot afford a quality living. Considering that food is one of the essentials in life, poverty result in the vulnerability of food decline due to fewer resources to obtain food.

Poverty is extremely linked to an individual’s health. People who are affected by poverty have poor health, leading to weakened immunes that make them susceptible to infections and contagious diseases. Thus, it mainly affects an individual’s wellbeing.

Individuals who live under the poverty line cannot afford quality food. This is because they do not have enough resources to buy foods that are considered healthy. Thus, poverty affects the abilities of individuals to afford healthy foods.

Poor diets have various long term effects on the body. Some of the effects include obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and various types of cancer, high blood pressure, and diabetes. This is due to the reason that a poor diet leads to nutrition imbalance in the body.

A poor diet negatively impacts on early childhood development. This is because it affects the rate of maturity, physical growth in return; it affects the general growth rate, height, and body weight. In most instances, poor diet in child development is characterized by stunted growth.

Health is more dependent on the income abilities of an individual. This is an indication that an individual can be able to effectively maintain their health, as a result of a stable income. Poverty affects an individual’s health because they cannot cater to the needs of their health due to low incomes.

Impacts of Poverty on Society

Poverty is a vicious cycle that its effects adversely affect society. Poverty leads to low income and unemployment, whose life-long barriers are felt by society. It leads to a lack of productive resources, increases social discrimination, and limited access to critical services.

Effects of Low Income on Diet

Families with low earnings cannot afford quality foods such as fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Low income will mean that they will go for foods that are cheap and filling instead of nutritious.

Low-income families cannot afford healthy foods. This is because some of the healthy foods are expensive or out of their reach. They have to incur extra cost to access them before they buy. Thus, they cannot afford healthy foods.

The Cheapest Most Nutritious Food

The cheapest most nutritious foods comprise of but not limited to, green cabbage, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, and canned tomatoes. Considering a tight budget, these are some of the most nutritious foods that can be cheaply afforded.

My real healthy diet is comprised of a balanced diet. I usually ensure that I do not major on a certain diet than the other. I balance between proteins, vegetables, fruits, and other nutritious foods.
