OIG is a federal agency that has the responsibility of eliminating fraud, waste, and abuse while at the same time enhancing the efficiency of health and human services programs. The agency focuses more on the oversight role of ensuring effectiveness and efficiency of Medicaid and Medicare programs in order to ensure that people access quality healthcare services (OIG, 2027a). OIG’s oversight role extend to other to program and services offered by Health and Human Service (HHS) institutions such as Food and Drug Administration, Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and National Institute of health. Therefore, the objective of OIG is to enhance and protect the integrity of HHS programs and the beneficiaries of health and welfare services or programs. 

One of the main services that are offered by OIG is distribution of resources to assist healthcare industry in complying with the necessary laws such as fraud and abuse laws and regulations. The agency also educates the public about fraudulent scheme to create awareness that people can use to protect themselves against any illegal activity (OIG, 2017a). In addition, OIG gives offers information about health laws and information to health care players. It also offers information on fraudulent activities associated with healthcare sector.

Compliance 

The website provides compliance guidance to healthcare managers and administrators. The compliance guidance provides useful information that healthcare managers and administrators can use to develop internal control mechanisms that are useful for monitoring adherence to relevant laws and statutes (OIG, 2017d). In addition, it provides statistical software like RAT-STATS that healthcare managers and administrators can use in claims review. At the same time, the website provides useful information that healthcare managers and administrators can use to learn about compliance issues (OIG, 2017b). The compliance education materials in the website can also be used to train healthcare professionals on how to comply with various laws, regulations, and requirements. Therefore, the website provides a lot of literature on compliance that are not only useful to healthcare managers and administrators but all healthcare professionals. The additional methods that are provided that can help in compliance issues include training materials, importance of compliance, and a list of organizations providing compliance training. 

Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) 

The main information IOG provides on ACOs is how federal agencies deal with legal issues affecting ACOs, especially those engaged in the Medicare shared savings program. It gives information on how ACOs can participate in the Medicare shared savings programs. Besides, the website has a lot of information about the role of The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in the operations of ACOs, and the rules and regulations such organizations should follow when participating in the shared saving program (OIG, 2017c). At the same time, it provides laws that ACOs should comply with during their operations such as Civil Monetary Penalty and Anti-Kickback laws. 

Summary 

OIG website provides a lot of information on various healthcare issues that affect key stakeholders such as health providers, health managers, and health consumers. It is one of the best sites that healthcare providers and professionals can use to learn about compliance and fraud issues and other relevant laws. However, the website needs to elaborate on compliance issues and laws. I find the website valuable to me as a potential healthcare administrator, as I can use it to learn more on compliance issues and laws. At the same time, it provides information that provides information training that I can use to train health professionals or employees under my watch.
