The world changes and the increment in competition mean that companies must recruit the best talent, but with the high cost of hiring experienced personnel, business is more likely to recruit upcoming talent than experienced employees. The transitions from universities and other learning institutions are difficult as past surveys have illustrated but with the companies’ inability to waste time hoping for a successful transition, onboarding process enables smoother and faster transitions (Bos, 2010). Effective onboarding programs enhance the ability of the recruited employees to hit the ground running and impose their skills in the shortest time possible.

These different elements in onboarding but the most important are the formulation of a clear and straightforward formal plan of recruitment and engagement of the recruits with mentors, and teams within the organization to ensure they can operate individually and have effective teamwork skills. The program should be focused on setting a detailed business process of recruiting even before the recruitment process begins. The company should use its website to make potential employees aware of the organization to ensure that those who apply for recruitment are conversant with the business and its culture (Bos, 2010). The knowledge about the company ensures that the new employees will be willing and can adjust according to the requirements of the firm. The plan should acknowledge that the onboarding process is a continuous process that does not end after recruitment hence the need for experienced staffs to mentor the new workers. The mentorship encourages the hired workers become comfortable and adopt the business culture. Hence, they can operate both individually and within teams towards the achievement of the organization’s goals and objectives (Bos, 2010). The plan should ensure that the structure does not change to ensure the transition is useful rather than confusing for the recruits.
