The hiring of employees is one thing, but retaining them retaining is another task. Therefore, onboarding training is one of the approaches used to retain employees. According to Carucci (2018), one characteristic of most successful companies globally is the presence of these programs. In particular, they focus on different approaches depending on the nature of the company. In this case, the restaurant must focus on three dimensions to successfully espouse the onboarding programs.
Organizational onboarding is one of the strategies used in these programs. According to Jose and Francisco (2019), the approach focus on the integration of new employees in the company system. Thus, the approach teaches employees on some of the standard practices and the role they will be undertaking in the organization. Secondly, organizational onboarding allows new employees to learn about the values and norms of the company, especially during the year. The other approach is technical onboarding, which focuses on ensuring the skills of the crew leader are utilized in the day-to-day operations. The process is vital as it creates job satisfaction, which lowers the turnover rate and, more importantly, improves productivity (Fassoulis & Alexopoulos, 2015). In this case, the restaurant can use coaching sessions, whereby the new employee will be acquitted to day-to-day roles. By doing so, the employer gains the confidence and zeal to perform the various roles. Therefore, organization onboarding and technical onboarding allow new employees to familiarize themselves with their role in an organization.

Social onboarding and a reward program further improve the effectiveness of new employees. Social onboarding improves the social network, thereby affecting productivity. Additionally, a reward system offers an incentive to new employees and motivates them, which allows the organization to attain its objectives (Orsingher & Wirtz, 2018). Overall, the adoption of the onboarding program will enhance the effectiveness of employees and allow the restaurant to attain its objectives.
