Anaconda was the most ambitious military operation that was undertaken in the Afghanistan war. The operation was a joint forces action which is most famous for different mistakes which ended up consuming the life of eight Americans with couples of Afghanistan Allies. The operation was carried out by different forces working together to capture or kill the terrorist that were based in the Shahi-Kot Valley in the southeastern corner of Afghanistan. This is an outline of the joint forces and their mission during the operation Anaconda.
Afghanistan Allies
These were American soldiers with Afghanistan origin
Their primary function was to identify the civilians so that they could not be harmed during the operation.

They also reinforced the ground forces to make a strong army and aid in capturing the terrorists.
The ground forces
The first division was the 10 th mountain division under the guidance of Lieutenant colonel Paul LA Camera. These were the soldiers who were brought into the scene by the Chinooks and were responsible for blocking the positions that could be used as escape roots by the terrorists ( Kugler, Baranick & Binnendijk, 2009).
The second was the 187 th infantry regiment of the 101 airborne divisions. The troop was under the guidance of Colonel Frank Wiercinski. Further, they were led by the soldiers of the first battalion.
The third forces were a combination of the TF Hammer and the TF Anvil. The TF Hammer consisted of individual operators and the AMF. They were to enter the valley from the northern point and assault the Shahi-Kot Valley, mostly the villages of the Marzak and Serkjankheyl. TF Anvil consisted of the TF Rakkasan. They were also to block positions which could be used by the enemies to escape.
The air force
The French air force Mirage and the USA Navy Units provided the air supports that were to use missiles and also led the operation of blocking the escape routes during the operations.
