Maxim Healthcare Agency has adopted a formal organizational structure helping in the streamlining of its routine market operations (Marquis & Huston, 2017). In 2016, William Butz was appointed as the company’s Chief Executive Officer responsible for spearheading the operations of the company in the provision of medical staffing, home healthcare as well as wellness services and population health. On this basis, the CEO is responsible for spearheading all the routine operations of the company in the market (Fischer, Jones & Verran, 2018). This implies that he is responsible for overseeing seamless operations in the departments such as Behavioral Care, Home Healthcare, Healthcare Staffing, Personal Caregiving Services, and Population Health and Wellness.

Within the organization, critical decisions are usually made by the company’s chief executive officer in collaboration with chief finance officer, chief experience officer, chief culture officer, and the chief medical officer (Marquis & Huston, 2017). As the company’s CEO, William Butz usually consults with the outlined key executives in the determination of the viability of the decision undertaken by the organization for enhancement of its operations. However, the authority of approving the final decision rests with the company’s CEO who is responsible for overseeing all its routine operations. In the context of making decisions, it should be acknowledged that the decisions to be undertaken are usually forwarded by the CEO to the company’s board members for deliberation. As the chairman of the board, Jim Davis usually leads other board members in the deliberation of the specific decisions the CEO intends to make. Such deliberations by the board members are usually undertaken for the purpose of examining the viability of each decision and the likely impact on the routine operations of the company. Upon receiving a go-ahead from the company’s board, the CEO is usually free to implement each of the approved decision. This is the decision making framework that has been adopted by Maxim Healthcare Services throughout its routine operations.

Maxim Healthcare Services also has departmental heads in charge of its key departments such as Personal Caregiving Services, Behavioral Care, Home Healthcare, Healthcare Staffing, and Population Health and Wellness. In this case, the respective departmental heads are responsible for making their independent decisions in consultation with the company’s chief medical officer (Manojlovich, & Ketefian, 2016). The chief medical officer is usually responsible for determining the viability of the decision undertaken by the respective department. Such decisions made within departments are then communicated to the chief executive officer for ratification. For instance, if the Healthcare Staffing department of Maxim Healthcare Services intends to expand its allied health and workforce management services to other geographical regions, the department head will work on all the needed framework arrangements necessary for the actualization of such plans (Marquis & Huston, 2017). The company’s chief medical officer will also be involved when making such arrangements and decisions before the final decision being communicated to the chief executive officer. This is the decision making and operational framework that has been adopted by the Maxim Healthcare Services throughout its routine market operations.

However, it should be noted that a centralized decision-making framework has been adopted by Maxim Healthcare Services throughout its operations. This is because each and every decision made at a department level is usually ratified by the company’s chief executive officer. As a result, this has helped eliminate the possibilities where controversial decisions may be made by the company’s department without the knowledge of the chief executive officer (Benzer, Charns, Hamdan & Afable, 2017). On the other hand, the adopted formal leadership on decision making within each company department has helped in ensuring that all the necessary considerations are put in place. This is the main reason as to why each department usually works in collaboration with the company’s chief medical officer who is responsible for ensuring that all the necessary aspects have been met by the respective departments in their made decisions. I noted this framework of operations imposed by the embraced formal leadership during my short stint of working for Maxim Healthcare Services.
