It takes a team of professionals to attend to health care needs of a nation and nurses are the key factors that keep the health care system run efficiently in its operation. Nurses provide a daunting task in the daily care of people, serve as a connector between patients and physicians and in other times even the role of doctors. There are various types of nurses whose titles differ depending on what training they have received, what they do and where they perform it. Nurse’s responsibilities vary by specialization and unit in which they concentrate, but most of them share wider similarities than differences. I wish to be a nurse to monitor and provide patients care, to reduce mortality rate in the nation, educate patients and family members about health conditions, provide emotional support, provide medication and treatment and above all give advice to patients and their families (American, 2010) . Nurses play a vital role to secure the lives of many by keeping them healthy and providing preventive health care measures and information as well.
I value the task performed by a nurse as they commit themselves in saving the lives of many citizens and even work flexibly in all areas across the globe no matter the risk surrounding them. A nurse can work in various kinds of an establishment such as hospitals, home care facilities, in the army, government agencies and schools each offering a unique working environment. As a nurse, I would additionally improve on my values such as social justice, trust, sympathy, altruism and autonomy in decision making. By altruism, I will ensure the provision of maximum health and welfare for my patients, their friends, families and the society as a whole. Therefore with these values at hand patients can receive equality in the service they need and receive the best medication for their survival ( Polit, 2008) . Nurses perform a unique role in their code of conduct as their primary task is working on an individual life which mostly depends on his survival. Thus, Nurses are crucial people in the society as they keep an eye in ensuring that the lives of people are prevented from many natural obstacles such as diseases through provision of information on hygiene, medication, and treatment.
