Across the globe, nations apply different leadership styles to manage people and influence social practices. With regard to Lewin's leadership styles, I think I am a democratic leader based on the strategies I apply when interacting with different people. I apply these strategies, especially during group studies and when hanging out with colleagues. I often encourage other people to give their input when solving crucial issues. I believe people hold different perceptions, which should be considered and understood to make final decisions. I like it when others feel engaged when discussing crucial matters. As a democratic leader, I believe that other individual's opinions are of high quality and should be considered. During group work, I apply participative leadership skills to motivate my colleagues and promote creativity. Through this leadership skill, every individual feels important, and the group exchanges ideas to achieve success.

Participative leadership is the most effective leadership style to benefit every individual. It can benefit prison employees and prisoners in various ways. Firstly, participative leadership would help reduce unethical practices within correctional facilities. The facility head would discuss with inmates and prison employees concerning unethical behavior and engage in decision-making to prevent future unethical scenarios. Secondly, participative leadership would help in discussing individual rights in correctional facilities. The facility head would talk with inmates and prison employees about right violations and ways to avoid them. Thirdly, participative leadership would help improve the welfare of prisoners and prison staff. The facility head would analyze complaints and develop strategies to boost the welfare of inmates and prison staff. Fourthly, participative leadership would be vital in discussing medical issues to benefit the prison community based on healthcare services. Prisoners and prison employees have a right to proper medical attention. Thus, the facility head would analyze the experiences of prisoners and prison employees to improve healthcare. Finally, participative leadership would help discuss correctional facilities' security issues by engaging with prison employees and prisoners. It would enable them to discuss with the facility head about strategic developments to improve security.

Participative leadership would be a detriment if it would involve one party and sideline the other. For instance, if the facility head talks with prison staff and avoids prisoners, inmate issues might not be solved, thereby causing harm. Secondly, participative leadership would be detrimental to inmates and prison staff if the decision-making process is slow. In other words, inmates and prison staff will experience more harm due to the gradual decision-making process. Thirdly, participative leadership would be detrimental if inmates and prison staff provide contrasting opinions against each other. This would lead to conflicts that might interfere with the decision-making process. Fourthly, participative leadership would be detrimental if the facility head fails to address problems appropriately. This would cause more harm to inmates and prison staff, leading to insurrections. Lastly, participative leadership would affect inmates and prison staff if the decision-making process fails to consider their problems. In other words, it would be detrimental if the facility head ignores inmates and prison staff complaints.

Strategic Plan Development

The strategic plan would involve five steps to solve the problem.

Analysis of problems/issues within the prison facility.

The prison facility will hold talks with prison staff and particular inmates to gather information on crucial topics.

Setting goals to address crucial issues outlined by prison staff and inmates.

The prison head will adopt a clear vision to guide the problem-solving process.

Formulating approaches to solve the problem.

The prison head will discuss ways to improve prisoners and prison staff with executives and other prison staff.

Implementation of the approach in solving the problem

The prison head will acquire funds and hire experts to implement a particular strategy to alleviate the problem. For instance, installing digital cameras to boost security.

Evaluation and management

The prison head, in conjunction with other experts, will monitor the strategies and ensure top performance. The prison head may request feedback from prison staff and inmates about the new strategy.

This plan will enable me to gather first-hand information from prison staff and inmates about the facility's issues. It will allow me to create goals and formulate approaches geared towards solving the problem. This plan will allow me to participate in face-to-face discussions with inmates and prison staff concerning possible solutions before engaging with experts. Generally, the plan will help me engage in effective decision-making by involving prison stakeholders, inmates, and prison staff.
