The Call of Abraham (Genesis Chapter 12:1-4) “ The Lord had said to Abram, "Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you. "I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you. I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing”.

The passage tells the story of an interesting journey with lots of ups and downs and successes and failures. It is unquestionably one of the most compelling stories from the book of Genesis as it critically explores on a journey full of hardships, sacrifices, disappointments, but teaches us to always holds on with faith; as at the end of it, there is an awesome reward. The passage shows how God calls men and places them on a daunting mission to test them and see how they can respond. Through calls, God can determine a man's capacity to know whether he can carry out a certain mission successfully. God always has a plan and a purpose for people's lives by being most often in their lives and at work, but people aren't aware of His presence till later when God manifests Himself. People, too, like Abraham, are on a journey of faith. God puts in people a unique mission and entrusts them with it.

Another reason why the passage is so relevant in today's life is that Abraham's call has roots in history, as like with our faith. History of today's salvation, how God relates with us, especially how God saves His people from time to time, has its beginning from Abraham's call. Abraham has a heroic figure in Genesis and portrays a figure of faith and how God's people obey the Holy Scriptures through obedience. The story also teaches us that through Abraham, all earth families are going to be blessed. Additionally, the passage shows how God takes the risk in associating His plans with humans who have trembling faith. God shows Himself as willing and ready to take risks through Abraham to accomplish what He intends.
