The development of a rapport between the patient and his or her nurse is an indispensable aspect that ensures the emotional wellbeing of the ailing person (Riley, 2015. The above can be best accomplished by nurses taking an initiative to kick off the communication process. Their communication devices are handy tools that can be invoked to help in the achievement of communication objectives. Through open communication, patients are likely to confidently share their health information with nurses. A better medical history, as well as condition, is likely to be obtained, a factor that assists in better treatment. In addition, healthy communication is likely to influence patient’s attitude towards their care providers as well as the medication provided to them. Through this, recuperation is likely to be a smooth process in comparison to a patient who does not have a privilege to have a great rapport with his or her nurse.

Ethical implication in communication between a nurse and a patient mainly emerges from the breach of patient’s privacy. Patient’s information has only to be handled by the medic in question and should not be shared with any third party. With free communication between the nurse and the patient, the patient might share medical related information which could, in turn, be shared with other individuals. Besides, communication devices used to store such information can be accessed by other individuals and patient’s information retrieved, an occurrence which is highly unethical.

Literature emphasizes the use of communication by nurses for contribution in infrastructure required to better healthcare (Riley, 2015). Besides, it confirms that due to the possibility of such devices being used against the rights of the patient, there are policies that have been put in place to regulate patient’s consent and how their information is shared.
